'Sex Chip' Creates Pleasure in Brain, Could Treat Disease

Researchers on both sides of the Atlantic are developing what the media has dubbed a 'sex chip,' according to the Daily Mail.
The implanted chip, which stimulates the brain's pleasure points, has already been used in the United States to treat Parkinson's disease and, in England, is now being studied as a potential treatment for anhedonia, a disorder that blocks pleasurable sensations like those in sex and eating.
Oxford University fellow Professor Tipu Aziz said of the chip, "A few years ago a scientist implanted such a device into the brain of a woman with a low sex drive and turned her into a very sexually active woman. She didn't like the sudden change, so the wiring in her head was removed."
That being said, Aziz thinks the chip needs more work, forecasting ten more years of development.
Ten years should give us enough time to sort out the ethics of robot sex, so that we can safely move on to ponder the ethics of chemical sex.
In the meantime, try pondering the future of cyborgs ('a bionic human,' according to Merriam-Webster, with one too many chips in him/her) with our gallery of famous cyborgs -- some sexy, some not -- from movies and TV shows below.

To both Jim and Robert, and every other man, or woman, complaining that it is one gender or the others fault for a decline in sexual arousal between partners: It is never just one genders fault, ever. Men and women both 'let themselves go' and have disgusting, annoying habits that they refuse to or simply cannot change. Quit harping on something that isn't even part of the article's topic, unless of course you just want to whine and complain pointlessly.
Having said that, I don't believe the company's intent was to bring about an age of cyborg's but to help people who previously had no alternatives.

Jim....You obviously are a man younger than 40. LOL Not all men have "disabilities" in the bedroom because their women nag, etc., you think you know SO much. A lot of men over 40 start "losing" it physically do to age, diabetes, etc., NOT nagging! That being said, this feel-good chip thing is the WRONG thing to do. God didn't intend man/woman (and I DON'T mean transvestite LOL) to have electronics in their brain. If a person isn't physically capable of having sex all the time after 40, sometimes it's called NATURAL, although there is viagra. Hasn't anyone here even thought of the idea that if doctors can put a "chip" in your brain...someone could have CONTROL over you (and could be used to do just THAT) or used to track your EVERY move. People should stop being SO ignorant, complacent and trusting in this age and wake the heck up!

". Of course it was my fault according to her because I wasn't supportive of her."......Robert, don't you KNOW by NOW that women react differently when they're "depressed?" Every time I left a bad relationship, I actually LOST 10 pds that I gained in that miserable relationship! When I left my ex hubby, I lost 20 pds....go FIGURE. Some women eat when they're depressed because their partners are utter azzes. Sounds like you were one. LOL

OMG What is this world coming to. Love the person your with and let them know your supportive of them, show interest in them, do kind things for them. Imagine your life without this person, if it doesn't matter then your not with the right person. The government has their paws in everything and it usually never helps the middle class, always a price tag!!!!!! Wake up People

USUALL IF ONE IS NOT HAPPY WITH THEIR SPOUSE. THEN SEX IS A PROBLEM. THE CHIP WOULD BE USED FOR THE WRONG REASON.LOW SEX DRIVE DOESN'T MEAN THAT HE OR SHE DOESN'T LOVE THEIR PARDNER. I HAVE BEEN MARRIED 40 YEARS. WE LOVE EACH OTHER DEARLY,BUT THE SEX HAS GOT LESS AND LESS OVER THE YEARS,WHILE THE QUALITY HAS GOTTEN BETTER AND BETTER. SOMETIMES IT IS JUST NICE TO SIT AND HOLD HANDS AND SIP A CUP OF COFFEE.
