24 of the Worst Special Effects in Movies and TV
If you've ever marveled at the campy splendor of awful special effects, the folks over at Den of Geek have compiled a list guaranteed to make your day.
The films (and we use that term loosely) that yield their 'Top 24 worst special effects of all time' run the gamut from obscure 70s flicks to sci-fi favorites; no director -- not even George Lucas -- is safe from the lambaste; Lucas's original 'Star Wars' movie took fifth place in these dubious awards for an embarrassingly edited scene in the 2005 re-release.
Our personal favorite clip is featured above. Taken from the low-budget, made-for-TV 'The Langoliers,' this scene was ridiculed by Den of Geek for its poorly-designed, ridiculous-looking, Pac Man-like monsters. What we enjoy the most comes close to the end of the clip when, chasing after terror-stricken folks, the monsters devour the pavement of the landing strip. Apparently, judging from the island of concrete that sinks in their wake, the airport designers decided to suspend the foundation twenty feet or so above ground.
Truthfully, we've seen better effects and research in amateur YouTube videos. [From: Den of Geek]
