Anyway, this Switched article is a little misleading:

The conference is NOT ending. Apple is just not going to attend. There's still hundreds of Mac- and iPod-related hardware and software companies that will attend. The most refreshing Company in this whole industry has been Apple Corp. Now we will just have Pabulum and Corporate Speak fed to us... and 'plastic creativity' versus genuine creativity. I knew Steve decades ago, and as well Bill and Scott... And Now Apple is going to go the 'way' that moves to the 'out of touch' arena.
