Best of the Web This Week
This week, we lifted back the curtain to present our first-born lovechild -- The 2008 Urlies, our recap of the year in Internet -- to the unsuspecting public. Yes, many other cool things happened, but this seismic event shook the web to its very core. Though millions were unsurprised when "Cats" (not the musical) received the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award, our glorious tribute film really took things to the next level...Now if we could only get Shaq to rep us on Twitter! After taking a trip down 2008 web memory lane, check out some other goods we found this week:
- We premiered a new weekly feature, the Weekly Daily Mailbag, in which Eliot will bring you the week's
best bizarre news in one convenient serving; it also has a really cool logo.
- Painted Japanese trains left the station.
- WTF Animated Gifs opened our minds to doors of perception we didn't even know existed...
- We met the Panda-dog, a very cute, slightly freaky hybrid animal that we'd really like to hug.
- The Walrus-sax video got mashed-up, and we rejoiced.
- We saluted all things mustachioed.
- Giant menorahs proved that out-of-control holiday decorations are entirely non-denominational.

I've seen quite a few of those clips before, but there were just as many that I haven't seen. Good stuff! :-)
