Art Project Brings Twittering to the Womb

Leave it to an NYU student to strap a sensor to his pregnant wife's belly that allows for fetal Tweeting. Seriously. Corey Menscher, a student in the Interactive Telecommunications Program, designed a sensor that updates a Twitter account every time the kid kicks.
Menscher explains in the comments on Boing Boing that his project uses a pair of piezo sensors and a low frequency detector to detect in-utero movement and sends data to a laptop via Bluetooth. An application on the laptop analyzes the data and updates the Kickbee Twitter account appropriately.
Most of Tweets are a little repetitive and robotic. But it only makes sense, seeing as how the fetus isn't capable of conscious thought or utilizing language. [From: Boing Boing]
