Insignia NS-LCD47HD
47-inch LCD 1080p
$999.99 at Best Buy
WHAT A DEAL: Best Buy's in-house brand seems to have hit all the right compromises and sweet spots for screen size (47 inches diagonal), resolution (1080p), contrast ratio (1500:1), and inputs (3 HDMI, 2 component video, 2 S-video, 2 composite video, 1 RF, 1 PC).
WHAT'S THE CATCH: Bland black plastic looks; no USB or Media Card slots for easy watching of slide shows from your camera.
BOTTOM LINE: This is an awfully good deal. As with the Vizio, "Insignia" is a brand that few years ago we would have been wary of, but it seems to be doing all the right stuff.

The Samsung DLP is by far the best TV in this story. The picture is much better and faster than LCD, great for watching sports. The color, contrast and motion are phenomenal. It's full 1080 so blu-ray makes it seem as though you're at the movies.
The only single disadvantage is that the TV is not perfectly flat and cannot be hung on a wall, which wasn't an issue for me, as I prefer to have mine on a stand.
