First of all I doubt Dawn is a Best Buy employee - probably just someone that didn't put an email address or invalid - thus the no reply - do you think Best Buy employees have magic log-ins at various sites?
The reason she said that is simple - who are you going to call to fulfill your warranty obligations if Circuit City doesn't just reduce the number of stores but folds completely?
Best Buy is a big box store - as is Circuit City. I prefer CC but same difference really.
If you use the tools they provide on the website (or just order the big sales online the day before thanksgiving like I did) no problem and like many others have said if they don't have what's advertised demand to see a manager - if the manager doesn't fix it - call corporate FROM THE STORE.
You are not going to get spectacular customer service from a big box store without being an informed consumer that can advocate for yourself. These are minimum wage employees and many aren't exactly considering the position their dream job. Is it right that you have to fight for what they have promised? No. It is the reality however.
There are plenty of resources online these days to find the best prices and you have a phone to confirm it's in stock. With most places offering free shipping on orders over $50 or $100 these days it's often easier to just buy online or support smaller stores.
Another option is refurbished items that carry the same warranty - I've gotten great deals with these 9 times out of ten.
