With Wii, Nintendo Sees Bumper Christmas Crop

Yesterday, USA Today reported that eBay has facilitated the sale of over two million Wii systems and accessories this year, making the game system eBay's most popular tech item of 2008. While that report was coming in, our friends at Engadget reported that Wal-Mart was 'boasting' about their abundant supply of Wiis. Mere hours later, they posted an update on the story -- Wal-Mart had sold out of the systems in that brief period. Also yesterday (a big day for Wii news), Joystiq told us that Nintendo executives reported having sold 800,000 Wiis during the week of Thanksgiving, in the US alone.
Economy be damned, folks want their Nintendo. [From: USA Today, Engadget, Joystiq]
