I've just been informed by an offended commenter that, in some parts of the world, it isn't actually summer right now, but rather winter.

I don't think it's anything more then young folks today are losing their parent generated hang ups about the human body and being naked in general. After all, Mom and Dad have made fortunes selling them bikinis that cover less and less up and cost more and more money. Being naked to them is just a natural progression. Good for them, it's unhealthy to deny that which we actually are.
And to all you religious people who have been brain washed in the country:
Thomas 37: The disciples asked Jesus, "When will you appear to us, and when will we see you?" Jesus responded, "When you become like little children and disrobe without being ashamed, and you take your clothes and put them under your feet and trample them, you shall see the Kingdom of God, and you will not be afraid."

What book of the Bible did that come out of???????????? I have never seen the book of :Thomas in 37 years of following Yeshua. Oh I get it, it is one of those "Unauthorized" gospels. You know, the ones that contradict the entire morality of God. Oh Danny boy, God clothed man because of sin and man still sins. Keep your clothes on kids and don't listen to this wolf.

I don't know what Bible PERversion you use, but WAAAAY back in Genesis (The first book in any Bible I've opened...) Adam and Eve covered themselves, because they were NAKED... God himself made clothing for them. Most intelligent scholars of the Bible would employ the law of first mention, and reject the "book" of Thomas as false.

First the libs re-write history to suit their agenda. Now they're re-writing the Bible. Is anyone really THAT surprised ?
(Unverified)Dec 11th 2008 9:18AM
Just a point of clearification. The book of Thomas is a nostic writing and not included in the bible. Maybe this is one of the reasons.

That is not in my Bible.KJV.

ARRGGGHHH! I wish these morons would talk to a responsible theologian (I have an MA in it).The Nag Hammadi texts as well as other texts were puposely hidden from the raiders whose agenda was to keep people thinking in a fixed way. Biblical illiteracy is one of the worst kinds-and its dangerous!

The Gospel of Thomas is not recognized as authentic by most Christians.

Dear Dan,
God is real, Satan is real and hell is real. I know this means nothing to you now, but if you don't get saved and accept Jesus as Lord and savior of your life, you will go to hell when you die. I know you've heard this before, but please pray and ask God to reveal the truth to you. When her does, you'll be so grateful that you won't have to spend eternity in hell.

Well put, Dan - very smart post - after all, why is taking a nude photo a sign of having no self-respect? I think the human body is a beautiful thing.
(Unverified)Dec 12th 2008 10:51AM
Sorry Dan,
There's no Thomas in the scriptures. And Jesus doesn't have a track record to support your claims that he wants us all to be naked children. But I will say this. Our world has changed. Naked photos aren't nearly the scandal they once were. But it is exactally this kind of behavior that leads the Muslim population to want to exterminate Americans.

That quote from Thomas is exactly one the reasons it isnt in the Bible....Thomas is not a Church recognized book, your post is misleading.
(Unverified)Dec 11th 2008 11:33AM
Please, enlighten us Dan on what Bible you are quoting from!? Thomas in not in any Bible I ever seen or have! People, this is a good lesson for you though. Do some research before you believe what you read or hear! THis is easily checked...Go find a Bible, pick it up and look through it, Do you see any book of Thomas!? No, you don't..At least I never heard of it and have a couple Bibles and it is not mentioned, So, draw your own conclusion!

Dan Daily - Those teachings are not in reference to literal clothing. It is symbolic of the coverings we put on. Pride, ego, insecurities, job, money, status, material things, racism, sexism, degrees, intellect, education, occupation, culture, religion, sex, class, behavior, ideas, beliefs, attitudes are all forms (symbolic) of clothing. The reason it refers to little children is that they do not have all the above when they are born, it is conditioned. Adults do, so that is why the reference to children, not because of the lack of inhabitations, it is the innocence (no knowledge of). People’s concept of self are based off those "clothes", so to disrobe (abandon) your pride in those things causes you to see your true self. It might not be very pretty, that is why he says, “Do not be ashamed.” To the people who think that because something is not in the bible it is not relevant, that is truly living in darkness. Even theologians/historians know that the bible is a portion of compiled teachings, not all teachings.

hmmmm Yes it says that in the gospel of Thomas. Yes that is one of the lost gospels rejected at the Council of Nicea. I think the majority of the church goers replying though need to remember that just because the Council rejected it doesn't mean it's not authentic christian doctrine. You have to remember that a Ceasar called that council and politics had more to do with what was accepted and rejected then did authenticity or theology.

And Michael,
I know you mean well, but the Bible was written by laypeople. LAY PEOPLE! The Bible means exactly what it says. If you find deeper meaning, then so be it.
But, by your own words about adults, if they disrobe, everything else is gone. Just like childeren. When you're naked, everything is exposed and your station in life means nothing. No one can tell what it is. The President to the Garbage collector are all equal.
Anytime you say the Bible doesn't mean what it says, you take one big chance and these were the words of Jesus himself. Be very wary of what you say if you really care about truth...

I do not know the book of Thomas through my religious views, but I couldn't agree more on what is written here. I believe in Genisus when they ate the apple and were forced to feel shame for their bodies, it was punishment. Are we reversing this finally? Who knows. I doubt this is the manner that which is spoken by what you wrote, but not being ashamed of your body isn't a bad thing. =)

Hahahaha!! Someone said "intelligent scholar of the Bible". What a complete contradiction. Really, what constitutes being an "intelligent scholar" of that book of complete fiction and drivel.
