Shoplifters Taser Employee at Kansas Wal-Mart

Two attempted shoplifters at a Kansas Wal-Mart shocked an employee with a Taser when he tried to bar them from leaving the store, Propeller learned today from Say What?.
Amazingly, the employee -- with the help of a colleague -- managed to retain the two women until authorities arrived. While, according to Say What?, the women are being charged with both theft and battery, the assaulted employee is doing just fine. At present, no names of those involved have been released.
While we know money is tight right now, and Christmas is coming up, we'd like to discourage folks from using violence to get that Holiday five-finger discount. [From: Say What? via Propeller]

Hi,
Thanks for the trackback link to Say What? I'll be adding your site to my blog roll.

This is what's known as a useless comment. It lends nothing to the discussion at hand whatsoever.
By the way-- since you brought it up, you may be interested to learn that John McCain won Kansas. By a double-digit margin.

Hi, John,
I'll take your bet that the tasering shoplifters were democrats, because statistically the odds are they were republicans.
Why, you ask??? Because for every crooked democrat there have been five crooked republicans over the past 8 years. And secondly, the majority of people in Kansas are republicans.

Wow, great idea! The next time of go shop-lifting I'll remember to take a Taser with me! LOL!
TimDec 6th 2008 2:28AM
John's intelligence and politics aside. If the women obtained the Taser legally they would have been tracked down. When fired each Taser deploys small numbered ID tags as well as it's disabling payload.

This is a good example of why store security/loss prevention, should be allowed to carry something to protect themselves with. Most stores however, no longer allow their people to carry something such as pepper spray, something every other citizen is allowed to carry. (Unless you are a convicted felon, on parole/probation, a minor etc.) The stores don't allow them to, because they are afraid of being sued by the shoplifters that come in their stores to steal, and sometimes assault, as in this case, their employees. If I were this store employee, I would sue the store for not allowing me to carry something to protect myself with. (And I think we live in an overly litigious society, but I think this is warranted.)

Sure, blame the store. Did the store owners know the shoplifters have tasers? Just blame someone else for the problem. Sure, it would be nice if the guard had some protection but I guess you would object to walking into a store and see a guard with an automatic weapon. So instead, sue the store like that will solve the problem.

If I had a concealed firearm permit I would carry the weapon with me into places like that. I see someone robbing and or threatening someone...id have no hesitancy to to hold that criminal at bay whi;e the police arrived. Im sick of our society being so namby pamby we cannot protect ourselves or those we care about. Tazer me and Ill put one in your kneecap lol

Oh, great! So, just tell all the other crooks out there that all they have to do is carry tasers to stun people they're attempting to rob.
It's too bad that a good thing for personal self-defense has gone bad. There's no way you can keep them out of the wrong hands....the secret's out.
Although it didn't work in this situation, you can bet everybody and their uncle will either be stealing them or buying them to commit their dirty deeds.

maybe u shouldnt generalize all jews as voting for mccain. im jewish and i voted for obama. think twice next time before saying something about a whole religion voting for one person.
FrankDec 7th 2008 11:05AM
Does anyone think we should be asking how did these women get the tasers to begin with? If not, soon we will all be walking around with them.

Check out the various police equipment websites and see that you need ifd to get a taser.

Sorry to say but anyone over 18 can buy a taser that is activated by CO2. Such as the M18L, top of the line taser for around $500

well lets see nobody here seems to get the point that it doesn't matter who the shoplifters voted for, they are thieves regardless. don't blame what these fools did on the party they affiliate themselves with. Besides you wouldn't call them democrats if the democrat who was president was white you fool. i can't stand seeing these racist republican idiots running around screaming that everything's screwed cause the new president is *gasp* black? and also OMG not raised a christian when he is one now! wow that makes a huge difference NOT!!! guess what i am white and southern and i voted for bush for the second term but bush let this country down he was a huge failure and possibly the most hated president of all time because he was too hard headed to bring the troops home or even come up with some kind of plan to. Obama is going to do a fine job even if he's not the most popular president i don't think anything about his past is that important cause he cannot do anything in this country without the house and senate behind him. this country will not fall to him trust me.
AshramDec 10th 2008 1:45PM
Eh, you started to talk sense, but then you started to fall apart when you talked about "racist republicans."
That's why I believe repukes and demonicrats are really all the same. Both are real pieces of crap who dishonorably care about themselves and are willing to throw everyone and everything else, including their own country, into the fire to burn if it helps their own causes.
BTW, this country was screwed when the choices, more or less, became Obama or McCain: IMO, neither candidate was qualified to run for POTUS. Obama because of his inexperience, McCain because of his attitude.
And, I agree, the shoplifters are shoplifters, regardless of who or what they believe, so who they voted for does not matter because it does not explain, excuse, or exonerate their actions nor does it preclude them from taking responsibility and the consequences for what they've done.
