This particular aspect of War Profiteering is aka The Simulation Training Industry, and it has gobbled up approximately $40-50 Billion in VideoGame Training contracts over the past few years.
Imagine that--Play vido games to get ready for life-and-death combat. Meanwhile, Army Basic Training was cut to 9 weeks. Whereupon it was discovered that the new GIs were not in physical shape for war, and they didn't know how to handle their weapons safely and with necessary skill.
So, the Army upped Basic by one week, then was forced to cut that back again--Because with two wars going, there was a shortage of troops for Iraq and Afghanistan.
By all means, you Pentagon Fools--More kiddie games for the hapless cannon fodder! :-( The enmy is within...

Bbarry2wheels

Comments on US Army Spending $50M for Video Games to Train Soldiers for Combat

Wells, i think its going to be good, more -real life like experience for soilders lol only they dont get to die in games like they do in Real life, but surely more experience!!

Victoria Griffens

Comments on US Army Spending $50M for Video Games to Train Soldiers for Combat

These are called simulators people! I trained on a M1A1 tank simulator before operating a real tank in order to become familiar with the instruments cluster and arrangements. Pilots have flight simulators for these reasons also. I myself would rather learn from a simulator first before being trusted with the real thing. It is way more cost effective than just throwing someone into a real tank and they damage it by crashing it or something. Really, for a simulator, 50 million is really not that expensive compared to an almost billion dollar piece of equiptment!

Keltic

Comments on US Army Spending $50M for Video Games to Train Soldiers for Combat

Anyone heard of Ender's Game? the book im sure many have read it but this sounds almost like that except we're not having facilities in space and all that...either way has anyone ever played the free army demo games and gotten a call before?

Justin
