Facebook 101: 25 Tips and Tricks
Invite All of Your Actual Friends (and Family)
For those of us who grew up in the pre-Facebook era, it's sometimes tough to reach out to old friends and say (in a smarmy voice) "will you be my Facebook friend?" But it's something we should all get over, because the flurry of social-networking only starts getting good when you have a size able community of folks you know and like that are also out there making new friends and contacts. it just means you'll get more cool stuff in your in-box, and also means you're more likely to hear from some random person you went to grade-school with (or maybe an old flame), which, to be honest, is kind of the most moving thing about social-networking (reconnecting with long-lost folks, that is). This writer is even getting to know far flung members of his family that he wouldn't otherwise have much rapport with if it were not for Facebook.

I hear the author gushing over the wonderful world of social networking on facebook, but there's something he doesn't know. 10 years BEFORE the Internet, there were REAL Social Networking sites - they were called Bulletin Boards (BBS's), where users chilled, chatted, shared, exchanged, and - GASP - actually MET EACH OTHER in real life at BBS-coordinated monthly "meetups". Typical meeting places were like Family Fun Center, etc.
Bulletin Boards succeeded in doing what MySpace and Facebook fail at miserably and totally - they created meaningful, lasting true social relationships and networks. I know alot of people who got married after meeting on a BBS. Anybody reading this been married as a result of using MySpace or Facebook?
BBS's are still around, but you can't reach them with a web browser, you have to Telnet to them (they're old skool lol) and the graphics are old skool too - well you have to see them to believe them!
Do this: type telnet://centre.segfault.net into your web browser, and it will run the Telnet program and goto that BBS.
(I don't own the BBS, it's just an easy one to remember).
When you get there, you can't use your mouse to point & click (its old skool remember).
Just use your keyboard to hit letters of commands and... stuff.
Anyway I'm done ranting!! Everyone have a great weekend :)

facebook disabled my account for adding too many people. i dont understand…if the point of facebook is to add friends, why is there now a limit on how many people you add. And if you add to many people, hoping to get back on soon. I just enjoy using the site. my facebook has just been disabled and it’s really frustrating…i want it back. There is no “Abuse” as they like to put it.
Help please!
Thank you
