12 Classic Gadgets You Can Still Buy 4

Koss PortaPro headphones
First introduced: 1984
Until Sony introduced the WalkMan in 1979, headphones were typically oversized "cans" that audiophiles and stoners used to listen to their jams while connected by a long cord to their hi-fi systems. So when music went mobile, lightweight headphones naturally followed. And man did they stink. Legendary headphone maker John Koss -- an entrepreneur who started out in the '50s renting TVs to hospitals -- put out a few models before finally launching the PortaPro in 1984. Unlike most lightweight models, these put out unbelievable sound, were comfy, folded up to fit in a pocket, and were affordable. They haven't changed since and are still the choice of many a discerning audiophile and stoner alike, who now listen to their iPod jams on the go.
