We're bringing the show back.#otv
By the way, I'm podcasting on basically zero sleep, so this should be fun.
If you're not seeing chat with the podcast, just refresh that bad boy. A little F5 should make things right as rain.
Going to be podcasting live with @peterrojas here in about 15 minutes. Have questions? Send 'em our way! http://t.co/dgErVbTGJw

We lived in Tampa and cable was less than $50.00. We moved to ATL and it's almost double that amount....such a rip off!!!
TeresaNov 6th 2008 7:21PM
Comcast has got to be the worst ever! We have had a $50.00 jump in one year!!!! We need the FCC to check into this. Now is not the time to hike prices up.

I wish the FCC would get Cablevisions hand out of my pocket! Not only have they become very expensive, what used to be commercial free t.v. has now become a nightmare of cable service commercials.

Cable prices are Unamerican and it is time the fcc steped in and put a stop to it. Everything is so high in this country and Cable is entertainment and it should be inexpensive. PLEASE DO SOMETHING.
THANK YOU

Where I live, cable was $19 just fifteen years ago. I now pay $63.56 for same service (I do pay $5 extra a month for "digital service" now). They will add a channel from time to time, but usually drop one along the way so that the number of channels stays the same (about 65).
JaimeNov 6th 2008 2:59PM
not only has the price gone up and we get less choices but the service has deteriorated to abominable levels. Please Hellllllpppppppppp...
RobynNov 6th 2008 3:01PM
Not only are the prices outrageous and going up monthly, they have the worst customer service I have ever encountered.

Here's what ticks me off. We have satellite tv. For our RV, we can buy east/west coverage. Meaning we get stations from both coasts. At home, we can only get our own time zone. Why? To protect local broadcast advertising dollars. I wouldn't mind paying for the local broadcast if they let me buy the east/west service too. Why this restriction of fair trade?
They don't restrict your use of satellite radio.
And you thought you live in a free country!! HA HA
For those of us who have relatives and friends on both sides of the country, this is an insult to injury. If something happens like an earthquake, there is nothing like getting a local report. Also, if you miss a show at 8 you can see it at 11.
A free country would not restrict information services like this.

Why is it that we're forced to watch programs in languages we don't understand? I'll make the choice of what language I want my cable serice is in!!!

Cable, like food, utilities, and everything else in the US, has become another "toy" of the elite. What will eventually happen, is that middle class and under will decide their families need food more than they need TV. Perhaps then the cable companies rich, greedy corporate sponsors will feel the pinch and do something about this.
SherryNov 6th 2008 3:30PM
It's not up to the FCC to do something about prices, its up to the consumer. Start negotiating with your cable service(everyone), shop around, and complain (write letters, use the internet to expose them).
Same with the damn cell phone companies. People are so damn concerned about appearing 'cool' with their new gadgets on their cell phones that they are 'letting' these companies rip them off.
LNov 6th 2008 3:39PM
Yeah - been there done that. Charter holds a monopoly on cable service and I am not authorized to get a DISH (I rent). They do not negotiate for a lower rate. They do occassionally call me and offer a discount on my package rate, but thats not a big difference in the long run.
Come Feb 2009, its either cable or a digital box, so I am stuck with what I have.
RonNov 6th 2008 7:23PM
Where I live Comcast has come in and bought up all the cable providers in the area. You cant shop around when theres one one and they have a monopoly. Which last time I checked monopolies were illegal. But the money grubbing Republicans wont do anything about it. Maybe now that we have a Democrat in the White House some things will change !!!!!!!

Cable bill (Time-Warner) has increased monthly for last three months without change in service. Their CSR's & Billing department can't understand why I'm upset. I'm a bundled 20 year customer.
MitchNov 6th 2008 3:34PM
Cable prices have increased 500% since I got basic cable - and the increase in pay channels (HBO, Etc) has also increased proportionally. I believe everyone should get a fair price for his product or service but the key word here is "fair". Eventually wireless will beat cable for too many reasons to state.
DianeNov 6th 2008 3:41PM
Here in NJ all we have is Comcast. For me to have televsion, with basic HBO, my monthly cost is $130. The FCC better be doing something about this rape ASAP.
JohnQNov 6th 2008 3:42PM
Television is a life killer. Paying for Television is just plain stupid. Radio gives you all the News you need and is always more accurate than Television, books have a drama that Television can never capture. Save your life and your money and increase your intelligence - kill your Television!
msharvieNov 6th 2008 4:40PM
Just wait untill after Feb 17 th the price of cable will even go high.
2ManyCommercialsNov 6th 2008 3:49PM
Cable has way to many commercials. For every 15 minutes of programming, I have to watch 5-7 minutes of commercials! Cable is not worth the cost! My money can be better spent, or, should I say saved, for something far more rewarding!
tim ehnesNov 6th 2008 3:54PM
dump cable, shut off the tv and get out of the house. it's a big world and ther's plenty to do and see.there are things called books to.
