Man's Arm Stuck in Train Toilet After Reaching for Dropped Cell Phone

How much is your cell phone worth to you? If you lose it, do you just curse a few times and decide to pay for a replacement? Or, do you risk life and limb trying to get it back? A 26-year-old man went for option B, and ended up getting his arm caught in a toilet for two hours.
The man, a passenger on a French high speed TGV train, apparently dropped his phone into the toilet. When he tried to get it back, the bowl's suction system latched onto his arm and left him unable to free it. Emergency services cut the toilet free of the train, delaying the other passengers for two hours, and removed the man on a stretcher with the toilet still stuck to his arm. They certainly didn't spare him any dignity, as one witnessed said, "He came out on a stretcher, with his hand still jammed in the toilet bowl, which they had to saw clean off." Ouch.
Unfortunately, this isn't the first case we've heard of toilets and cell phones. A Lebanese student got stuck in his bathroom in 2005, and a passenger on a Grand Central Station train suffered the same fate in 2003. At least the killer cell phones aren't back yet (cue spooky Halloween music). [Source: BBC via Textually.org]

I experienced a similar problem. When I bought my iPhone, I first checked with “Got Reception?” (Gotreception.com) It’s a great resource for finding out where reception problems are most likely to occur BEFORE you lock yourself with a specific carrier.
