House With Legs Can Walk. Seriously.

The whole pod is about 10- or 11-feet high (different sources had different stats), contains a living room, toilet, bed, and a kitchen with a wood stove. The point of the whole thing is sustainable living, so the house is solar and wind powered. The whole thing costs just under $50,000, but the designers think it can be made for cheaper to gear it towards people on a modest budget. You may laugh, but according to the news, that could be all of us in like a week.
Seriously, though, we really want to know where you're supposed to park this thing, why it's better than an RV (yes, it's all-terrain but it's slow as hell), and does it come in any other colors? We're partial to something a little lighter. Don't miss the video after the break. [Source: The Daily Mail]

If it can move at a walking pace (2 to 5 miles per hour), then a truly impressive demo would have shown it moving at a walking pace.

This is rediculous and completely non functional. Reminds me of a highschool project, at best.

Five miles an hour...better get an early start. If it's for floods maybe it should float and have paddles instead --guess that would just be a boat.

How fast does it move? I mean, can it haul ass if the flood water rises fast? (And it usually does!) Now, I myself see this thing getting hit by a gust of wind from a tornado, hurricane, etc., and becoming one big can rolling on down the road. Does it have air (or airsickness) bags? And I don't see nary a window or vent, so remember... NO CHILI DOGS BEFORE WE CLOSE THE HATCH!

This is nutty as a fruit cake although it might be fun to have for guests after setting it up next to the house. It looks like there's a couple or three vents on the roof and the large windows can be seen with no covering on them. I'd love to see the inside of it. With a wood stove I would be afraid that it might blow over in a high wind and catch the thing on fire.

I am wondering if it has air conditioning or a heating system (besides the stove)?

Ok, what was the purpose of this "folly" again? Yeah, right, my grandmother who has severe osteoperosis and uses a walker could out ran that thing if not a flood! It doesn't have a parallel application as a practical miliary conveyance, either. MIT should fire the project head but give the students an A for Absurd.

What was that wire hanging down from the bottom? What if the flood comes at night? The thing would move faster if it had wheels and the occupant got out and pushed. Better wrap the china in rubber padding. Is it RC or controlled from a captain's chair inside? Oooooh it can step over a 2X4!!! What will they come out with next? A television that you have to make your own pictures? Darn, its called a light bright!! Hey, maybe we can get them to mass produce these in Mexico!!!!

wow ....i say throw out the furniture add some racks about midway up shove a stovepipe on the end and ya got yourself a giant walking smoker grill. Then on the hollidays when you go to grammas for thanksgiving the smoker will meet you there with the smoked turkey piping hot,.....you could even throw on 100 extra birds and have it sell them on the way hahaha now thats good old american inginuity no cooking or working for a living now if someone would come up with a Jetson-like flying car ill tell ya how to turn that into a giant punkin pie baker to travel with the smoker .

Kinda like watching paint dry. Looks like a piece of mobile art rather than anything with real uses. The artistic message? Look at all the spare cash I had on hand!!

It would be fun to watch a Jehovah's Witness come knocking on the door, only to have the house start to walk away from them. Picture it sped up a bit with the house having Mr. Potato Head arms and being chased down the street!

How do you hook it up to a septic tank? Have fun moving the septic tank with it.
