Britney Spears (and Other Celebs) Get on Twitter Bandwagon

Well, if you were still doubting whether or not Twitter was going to go mainstream and start drawing in the MySpace and Facebook crowd, you can doubt no more: Britney Spears is now part of the Twitter community.
Britney and friends launched a Twitter account and a new blog to keep the celebrity-obsessed public satiated. Granted, the Twitter account lacks any quips directly from the pop star and the only words straight from the artists mouth on the blog are heavily scripted videos, but the illusion of interaction is there.
Oddly enough, the site lacks any actual music from Britney outside of a link to the artist on Amazon and a link to buy the new video for 'Womanizer' on iTunes. The real story is the inclusion of the Twitter updates right on the home page, introducing millions of teenage girls to the microblogging service. It's only a matter of time before Twitter is overrun with "OMG"s and emo-girls Tweeting about their boy troubles.
Of course, Britney isn't alone, you can follow these celebrities on Twitter too:
- Kanye West
- MC Hammer
- Barack Obama
- Diablo Cody (Oscar winning writer of 'Juno')
- Brett Gurewitz (of punk band Bad Religion)
- Jhohen Vasquez (creator of 'Johnny the Homicidal Maniac' and 'Invader Zim')

Screw all those people! Dave Matthews is on there and he actually writes his own comments! Best thing to happen to us DMB fans in a long time!

Glad to see Brit getting with the social networking world. Now she just needs to name her 2008 concert tour.
