I have read on the web in various places & heard on morning news shows that running appliances at night saves money. I called my utility company and they said this is FALSE. I was told there is absolutely no difference in the rate no matter when I use an appliance. I was also told that to POSSIBLY see a rate difference I would need a special meter installed in our home which tracks our usage. If we could show we used the majority of our electricity on "off hours" (and who knows what that might mean in reality...after 7PM? 11PM?)...there might be a small savings.
So, I have no idea why I keep hearing, reading, etc. that there's a savings using electricity in the evening. Can anyone tell me what the real deal is here?
