FBI Raids Apartment of Suspected Palin E-Mail Hacker

The agents broke up a party to search the residence and issued subpoenas to Kernell's three roommates. According to some witnesses, Kernell fled the scene, but details surrounding the events are a bit murky.
The hacker, who broke into Palin's e-mail in-box, left a posting late last week on a forum at 4chan explaining how he used publicly available information to change the password for the account. Bloggers and forum members were able to quickly associate the handle used on the posting, rubico, with an e-mail address, rubico10@yahoo.com, which was then connected to Kernell. Authorities were also able to identify the IP address used to break into the account as belonging to Pavlov Media, the ISP that provides access at Kernell's apartment complex.
Kernell has not been charged with any crimes as of yet, but a grand jury hearing is set to begin this week. If convicted, he is expected to serve little if any jail time and be charged with a misdemeanor, though felony charges are possible. [From: Wired]

THE F.B.I. WOULD NOT BE INVOLVED IF IT WASN'T A FELONY,
IF IT GOES TO TRIAL AND HE IS CONFICTED THEN THERE SHOULD BE JAIL TIME.
A FELONY CONVICTION ON YOUR RESUME IS A KISS OF DEATH
IN THE CORPORATE WORLD.
MAYBE YOUR DEMOCRATIC DADDY CAN FIND YOUI A JOB SOMEWHERE, IF YOU EVER GRADUATE

The FBI, by its own admission, spent 20,000 man hours working on the source of the stain on a certain blue dress. This kid is toast, if he would have hacked into some Democrats e-mail or federal tax return, FBI would not have to time to waste.

Throw the book at Him. He knew that it was wrong and He did it anyway. It was a malicious thing to do to The Palin Family ... and I'll bet that were having a party celebrating it. They need to set an example with this by taking a hard line stance saying it is unacceptable no matter who it is.. .

Make an example of the little snot and throw the book at him. I bet he makes his parents so proud!! (NOT). Wonder what he'll "grow up to be". If not punished, or even if punished, he'll hack into even something "bigger" next time.

If hacking is a felony then he should be prosecuted to the fullest. He posted very private information, like her daughter's cell phone #, exposing her to every perv that wanted to call.
As a hacker don't they usually have a provision, once convicted, that they are not allowed to own or use a computer for a period of years, up to life in the case of hackers that used the information for personal gain? I hope he is prohibited from using a computer for at least 2 yrs, try to finish school without one kid. Just as drunks find there are consequences to DUIs like losing their license this teen should find there are consequences to doing something illegal with a computer.
He blogged that he wanted to de-rail the campaign. Is this not a teen-age Watergate in the making? He wanted to use information to harm her career but found absolutely nothing incriminating. Even the so-called state business emails were found to be nothing more than a personal conversation between her & a staffer about media attention. That has nothing to do with state business.
He wanted to do her harm so the intent was there & I hope he is charged accordingly & when convicted sentenced accordingly.

Time for a REALITY CHECK Jeff!
No... you don't see conservatives wasting their time hacking into a Yahoo account... they would MUCH RATHER hack into the accounts of Senate Democrats at the Capitol.
All you wing nuts need to grow up and stop slinging nonsense. Criminal activity is NOT limited to one Party, one race or any other demographic group. It just happens that THIS PARTICULAR incident was done by a Democrat's son.

Yeah, I would like to hear MORE about TROOPERGATE. What is the REAL story behind that? PALIN should be investigated right now before she can do any MORE damage to people's lives.

She'll be callin' up on Nato when she comes, when she comes.
She'll be goin' after Russia with big guns, with big guns.
She'll be startin' the next war.
'Cause her husband is a bore.
And we'll all be pushin' daisies when she comes, when she comes.
She'll be ridin' on her dogsled when she runs, when she runs.
She'll be carryin' her papoose and her moose gun, her moose gun.
She'll be runnin' for Vice Prez.
Things'll change when John is dead.
And "First Man" will be "First Dude" when she comes, when she comes.
We'll be votin' in the election when we go, when we go.
We'll be tellin' John McCain where to go, GO TO HELL!
We'll be votin' for the Prez,
We don't want someone who's DEAD.
That's why we'll vote Democratic when we vote, when we vote.

Bipartisan:
Marked by or involving cooperation, agreement, and compromise between two major political parties
Now compare and contrast:
The Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act of 2002 (BCRA, McCain–Feingold)
with
The Obama-Rezko Joint Housing Act of 2005, (that's antoin 'tony' rezko, peeps!)

ANYONE who surrepticiously invades ANYONES computer System and steals information of ANYKIND from that private party or business, should be prosecuted, fined & or jailed for his or her part in the violation.
IF, ANYONE is harmed either financially or personally by the theft of information/documentation, then, ANY & ALL parties involved, should be fined accordingly and summarily put in prison for a minimum term of 5yrs., to a maximum of LIFE, depending on if, information is of a National Security Nature and at what level, a given country is harmed.
Computer Geeks or not.... hackers or not..... NO ONE, has any business trying to hack & steal information from ANYONEs computer [.]

Anyone caught hacking peoples email should be jailed with very stiff penalties and fines. This is stealing and I don't care if he is a Republican or a Democrat. Anyone doing this type of thing is a CRIMINAL. Hackers are just as bad as people who steal your identity and spend your money. THIEFS Period!!!!! Nail them and Jail them.

First off. I'm absolutely sick and tired of people calling this a "hacking". Hacking involves an intrusive use of programming to get ahold of the information. Sarah Palin was stupid enough to use the most common, easily guessed passwords and security questions and any moron could have guessed them if they wanted to. Maybe instead of wasting tax dollars on punishing these poor kids, we should funnel some money into education. After all, keep in mind the woman who's password was "hacked" thinks humans and dinosaurs co-existed.

Interesting, kind of. Don't know what his major is but one thing for certain, he has way too much time on his hands. Not enough homework being assigned (or maybe it's being ignored).

Ol' Joe ~ This had me laughing when I read you approved the message. You father was a wise man and although a broomstick might have been a bit harsh (my mom used a belt or a fly swatter ~ they sting like mad and get the point across), what is most important is you learned your lesson, just as I learned mine. Unfortunately, too many think whipping a child is wrong and boy, doesn't society show it today !!! (I'm not talking beating, just 4 or 5 whacks on the bottom ~ it's cushioned for a reason)
I hope he gets punished and has to spend some time in jail where he can think about what he did and why it was wrong and someone needs to punish the father, too, for not teaching his child better values. And why not have him write a paper, 5000 words, explaining what he did was wrong, why it was wrong and make sure he posts all the sources where he got his information ~ and let's start with the Bible where we are told to do unto others as we would have them do unto us.
Respect. Honor. Integrity. All words of the past that have no meaning to people today.
