FBI Raids Apartment of Suspected Palin E-Mail Hacker

The agents broke up a party to search the residence and issued subpoenas to Kernell's three roommates. According to some witnesses, Kernell fled the scene, but details surrounding the events are a bit murky.
The hacker, who broke into Palin's e-mail in-box, left a posting late last week on a forum at 4chan explaining how he used publicly available information to change the password for the account. Bloggers and forum members were able to quickly associate the handle used on the posting, rubico, with an e-mail address, rubico10@yahoo.com, which was then connected to Kernell. Authorities were also able to identify the IP address used to break into the account as belonging to Pavlov Media, the ISP that provides access at Kernell's apartment complex.
Kernell has not been charged with any crimes as of yet, but a grand jury hearing is set to begin this week. If convicted, he is expected to serve little if any jail time and be charged with a misdemeanor, though felony charges are possible. [From: Wired]

Yeah, if he didn't want the attention he would have used a proxy or masked his IP address.

I can only hope that this person or whoever else is involved in hacking Palin's account is arrested and tried as an adult/s and does receive some jail time or some 'real' consequences for his/thier irresponsibile behavior. It is sad that this is the best they can do while whomever is paying his/their tuition bill and supporting him/them. If this kid was my child I would be very disappointed in his judgement. Personally, I just hope they THROW the book at him.

You left out the part about his father being a high ranking Democrat offical. There should be an intensive investigation as to how wide spread this corruption is within the Party. And if the Obama camp will be implicated.

You're as far fetched ridiculous as those morons Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh and Michael Savage. Yeah, sure, Obama would have a pimple faced kid do all that for political gain. Jeeez.

You are grasping at straws! You have no legit complaint so you now are blaming Obama? Give me a break.

Herman is completely justified in having pointed out the omission of the facts regarding the kid's Daddy, Tenessee State Senator Kernell (D)...( The "D" means "DEMOCRAT", FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE IN D...enial.
If the kid's Daddy were a Republican, and his victim a Democrat, the press would be referring to his Father and to John McCain with every paragraph written on the topic.

I really have a hard time believing that ANY adult politician would be brazen enough to utrilize the "talents" of a 15 year old hacker to do his/her "dirty work". Since I have not seen what the kid actually did, other than hack into someone's "private" email account (supposing that her credit/personal info hasn't been compromised) it looks like a case of "no harm, no foul" to me. Don't we have better things to talk about in this election campaign that email hacking? How about Unemployment? Or the fact that yet another bank has failed? Or the fact that crude has had its single highest one-day gain ever? I would much rather hear what the two candidates have to say about those things, like what their plan is to correct these problems...
Robert said 2:21PM on 9-22-2008
Put him in jail where he belongs...funny how it's only an invasion of privacy if it done to someone on the left. Daddy Democrat will get him out without a scratch...probably turn him into some kind of hero...If the governor of a state is not safe from invasion of privacy just think of how secure your life is...this idea of "relative" right and wrong is just sick....

too bad he doesn't hack into your email!

Palin didn't ignore a subpoena bucause she wasn't served with one. Her husband was served with a subpoena. Sorry to indrudcuce you to facts. I realize they get in the way of your baseless opinions. A brain is a terrible thing to waste, but in your case, it's too late.

The illegal, sneaky actions of David Kernell, son of a powerful south-
ern State Senator are no suprise. Does anyone recall the dear old
grandparents from SE Florida? Allegedly just out Christmas shopping,
they happened to have in their auto, a telephone scanner, tuned to
former House Speaker, Republican Newt Gingrich, and a tape recorder
to copy his telephone calls from his own vehicle, as they followed him
around on local roads, and I-95. They then went to Washington, D.C.,
where they gave copies to a Democratic Congressman, who released the
illegal phone taps to the public and rest of the party inner circle. Instead
of jail, they got off with a warning. This is the same party that does not
want Homeland Security to tap telephone calls between the US,
Al Queda, Islamofascist cells here and abroad...calling it an outrageous
invasion of privacy. What outrageous hypocrites...same ones who put
unwarranted civil rights of foreign terrorists sworn to destroy the US above
the lives and safety of fellow Americans.

Same party that thinks it's wrong to drill in Alaska because of the possibility of psychologically warping a polar bear, but it's okay to kill a half born baby.
Have the democrats had their brains so warped that they do not see their own hypocrisy?
