'World of Warcraft' a Terrorist Hotspot?

Yes, it sounds a little ridiculous to us too, but the above image shows the government is at least considering it. The picture is from a presentation given by Dr. Dwight Toavs, a professor at the Pentagon-funded National Defense University. From what we can tell, he wasn't trying to be funny. The "Keep" is supposed to be the White House, 110 gold and 234 silver are the coordinates of the attack, while the "Dragon Fire Spell" is a nuclear weapon.
Yes, it's certainly possible that a terrorist group could use WoW in this manner if it wanted to, but given the huge number of other communication channels available online, this particular one seems somewhat... unlikely to us. [From: Machinist]

Possible but why use a paytoplay when there are so so many free MMO's on the internet ? Is the Pentagon tracking every online game on the internet ? Could it be that just by chance these guys are Role Playing in a MMORPG ? Let us not forget the online content of games like Halo3 or CoD4 or the fact that there are many Voice chat options for these games out there.
WoW the Pentagon has a lot of work to do

Seems a bit far fetched.....at best. After all 2nd Life is free and has voice chat, same point by Kraggen. Sounds like the another idea for taking away something enjoyable, our right to play.
You don't suppose there's a bush baby running loose with stakes in their own MMORPG, trying to knock Blizzard out of the ball park?

could a real world terrorist organization use an online world to plan an attack? sure, or AIM, or YIM or SKYPE, or any other communication form. you could also use google earth or maps. or the US mail...
Maybe this article has more to do with the more recent article about the us army wanting to use WoW to play games on the civilian players.
Second Life would be a much better environment for military operations and training... loads of civilians, zones where various tactics can't work, and the freedom to script anything imaginable to achieve the objective. recruiting double agents, random civilians, alts, planting bugs, using advanced radars...
