The most famous face in the world gets turned on her head....literally. Activate the pictures and watch da Vinci's famous muse transform. The simplicity of this illusion is what grabbed our attention. Well, that and it involves the Mona-freakin-Lisa.

Yeah me too jenny...
I think some minds can just see things better than others, or rather see things in a different way than others :)
Maybe we are weird?

the only difference is that her smile and eyes are flipped upside-down. not really an optical illusion...but hey, maybe i'm not doing it right.

How do you activate the pictures?
DorrieSep 18th 2008 12:34AM
To activate click on the link under the picture: http://www.echalk.co.uk/amusements/OpticalIllusions/mona/mona.html
There is another copy of the pictures there and they rotate. As far as I can tell these don't move.

Although, not really getting to see her as the instructions said, I was taken to a weird site.
All this aside, the Mona Lisa upside-down or not was always smiling!

I don't see what is suppose to happen here. I guess I am not giving it my all because her mouth is different in each picture. Someone painted over this beautiful picture.

The color illusions at eChalk are not really illusions, they're digitally made to mislead. In particular, the ones where you slide the "mask" slider to see the "real" colors. For example, the cube where the center tile of the top face and side face look very different in color, but the illusion claims they are the same and then tries to "prove" it to you by having you slide the "color mask" and voila!...they are the same color. How come when I use cardboard to mask off all of my monitor screen except the two face tiles do they still appear different colors? If it's the surrounding area of the tile that alters your perception of the color of the tile, how come when I mask everything else off, do the tiles still appear to be different?
Trust no one.

mona lisa is frowning in the right one.
StephOct 30th 2008 8:39PM
Or search for "illusion mona lisa upside down" (or something similar). The link wouldn't work for me either.

hellooo? waiting for confirmation of such a minute yet important opinion

I don't see any "illusions" in these things. I got the right amount of Fs and Mona Lisa clearly looked wrong upside down. What is up with that? Illusions...please.
