Do you know Claire Swire?

Here's a cautionary tale of group e-mailing: Back in 2000, British lawyer Claire Swire supposedly e-mailed her boyfriend and a few other friends an off-color joke. The e-mail was, as fate would have it, forwarded to another group, and then another, and then another...until it was quite literally a global phenomenon. Swift Swire claimed the original e-mail was a hoax, but no matter -- by that time, the world press had caught news of the tidal wave of forwarded e-mails and the entire fiasco had taken on a life of its own.
