CCleaner (Windows)
Generally understood as an abbreviation for Crap Cleaner, CCleaner does exactly what it sounds like -- it cleans the crap out of your system. Visiting Web sites, installing and uninstalling software, and going about your daily business on your PC leaves behind files and traces of your activity that eventually "gunk up" your PC and slow down its performance. CCleaner looks for and clears out temporary files, Internet cache, remaining bits of uninstalled software, and broken links and entries in your registry. CCleaner wont magically make your five-year-old bargain PC run like a brand-new gaming rig, but it will noticeably improve its speed in most circumstances.

Do you all realize that the CCCleaner is not free!! The FREE app. will correct 20 errors and then it wants you to buy it.

CCleaner is free. it even says so on the pirform website. your a noob
DebbyOct 14th 2008 3:53PM
So much for this being free (from what others have posted). To only remove 20 things and then want you to purchase it to remove all the other junk....it's just a gimmick to get everyone to BUY IT. ha ha

Mr. O'Brien, couldn't you use some more intelligent word than "crap" to describe the things you want to eliminate from your computer? Just asking . . . .

I've been using CCleaner for several years, and it is free.
from the download page skip down below the DONATION boxes to the two download links, either file hippo or alternative download.
The program does a great job of removing crap, and the registry editor isn't half bad either.

This is an example of DEAL DONE where the unspoken truth drives people to download and realise that bottomline is You have to buy to further continue removing what is "considered junk"... If you have a Legit Antivirus you dont need to have it at all... Other Programs will always find different programs cnflictual sides and spring'em out as a "junk"...
Stop getting fooled...

This is not free. It only downloads a Demo then cleans up 20 problems then ask you to "Buy it now"....but does not say how much the full version is cost. This is not free, it is a DEMO !

I have used CCleaner every day for a year or more and have never had to buy anything. It cleans alot more than 20 things for me.

I just downloaded this and it works great. The fact that it is free makes it even better
LenOct 21st 2008 7:31PM
I downloaded it and it cleaned 20 items and told me there were 1100 more... For 29.95 I can clean it all.

I read these comments and made the same mistake that a lot of you did. When you click their link it takes you to the page with a big START DOWNLOAD at the top of the page. I clicked that thinking that was what I wanted. It downloaded something called ADVANCED REGISTRY OPTIMIZER and I ran it and it would only remove 20 SPYWARE type items for free. Instead, you should look down about 2 inches, it has a heading for CCLEANER 2.12.660 and under that is a DOWNLOAD NOW bar and it is the one you were looking for. When you download that and run it, it is free and it cleans all of them and states nothing about only 20 items.

Generally understood as an abbreviation for Crap Cleaner, CCleaner. This program is listed as free download.
Is this a product teaser that after downloading the free program identifies removable items and requires membership and/or purchase to actually remove the identified items? and it is definately not free
is the program on a CD Disk and what is the cost?

This is soooooooo confusing! Everyone says something different

Apparently, when you get to the web site, if you don't look carefully you will download the wrong software.
One is free and will remove spyware. The other one will scan and only remove 20 of the registry problems. This is the one that tries to get you to buy the "real" program foe $29.95.
This is why they give away free software. They know that a certain amount of people will not read the information on the entire page and download the wrong software, leading to a pitch to buy a cure for their computer. So, it is free for the smart ones. The dumb ones pay a price (if they are conned to purchase the registry cleaner) and it makes up for the free software. A good scam top get people to visit their website. (and get suckered into a purchase)
