Accidental Internet Stars 4

Anyone who's ever had (or left) even the slightest off-kilter message on someone's answering machine will be comforted to know that almost nothing (other than Alec Baldwin's phone rant to his daughter) beats the series of 30 angry messages archived at Psycho Ex-Girlfriend. The toast of the viral celeb-o-sphere in early 2001, Psycho Ex-Girlfriend essentially features 30 increasingly angry and nutball messages from a mystery caller that site creator Mark McElwain says is his ex.
Of course, his reluctance to actually identify his ex caused many to suspect the whole thing was a hoax, but nevertheless the story was picked up by everyone from Newsweek and the Wall Street Journal to 'Good Morning, America' (on which McElwain appeared sans ex-girlfriend). Real or fake, the messages are at once hilarious, scary, and sad.
