Don't open attachments from strangers.
Mistake: Opening e-mail attachments from anyone you don't know, no matter how trustworthy they seem. There was a rash of fake UPS emails that asked people to look at an attached invoice that turned out to be a virus.
Solution: Never open any attachment unless it's something you've specifically requested from someone you know. If a company sends you one unexpectedly, call it up and see what's going on. Again, skepticism can save you here.
