Camera-Equipped Teddy Bear Catches Thief, Becomes Hero
In what can only be seen as a triumph for stuffed animals everywhere, a teddy bear was used as a spying device -- specifically, a teddy bear with a small video camera positioned inside one of its eyes -- and was used to catch a caretaker criminal in Liverpool, England. The plan was put into action by a forensic science graduate (no coincidence there) and her father, who caught his mother's caretaker stealing from her. Who, it should be noted, was terminally ill with cancer. The thief, 28 year-old Yvonne Allen, was sentenced to six months in prison.
"We can confirm that a former health care assistant, employed by the Provider arm of Liverpool Primary Care Trust has been arrested and convicted of stealing from a patient," said Bernie Cuthel, managing director of Liverpool PCT Provider Services. "Following information from the courts that the employee involved was pleading guilty to all charges, an internal disciplinary hearing was held and this person is no longer employed by Liverpool PCT."
Having marked the bills in her grandmother's wallet and installed the consumer-grade camera in the teddy's head, the daughter made sure the evidence was incontrovertible. The convicted has agreed to pay £60 -- or roughly $120 -- compensation to her victim. Which, to be honest, doesn't really seem like all that much. [From: The BBC]

If you don't trust someone in your home don't invite them there. This form of spying will lead to voyeurism at it's worst. These cameras are everywhere today. It's one thing to monitor your babysitter, it's another to watch someone in private moments in areas of your home or theirs. These days that is what people are doing with these devices. It's a form of rape from which people only recover after years of therapy. People who use these devices irresponsibly because of a lack of trust are showing themselves as the one's who aren't trustworthy.

Don't download anything from Brad. Whether it be "Olympic Nude Scandals" or whatever. It is a VIRUS. You will be asked to download a player to watch the videos. That's when you download the virus. Someone needs to stop this A**Hole!

What does Brad and other sleasy lowlifes like him get out of putting a virus on somebodys computer. Do they jerk right after they know that they have ruined a piece of machinery or is it just because they cost someone a bunch of money? Why isn't there a way to send them a signal to blow up thier computer and disfigure them so everybody will know what kind of a person that they are. Then we could all punch him untill he bleeds out.

Democrats will consider this an invasion to privacy and, consequently, any evidence against criminals should be thrown out. They will probably drag the ACLU into this, citing President Bush as wrong instead (as usual) of focusing on the FACT that criminal scum bags actually commit crimes like Islamic terrorists (our enemies still, in case you liberals chose to forget) commit murder for their "god". Adulterers will hate this because it will catch them in the act. Men (you know who you are) performing shameful acts on their computers will hate these bears because it will reveal what they really do when they think they are alone. The truth is ugly and no one wants to accept individual accountability any more. It's much easier to blame President Bush, right?

thanks for the heads up on hiddencamera.tv I'll go check it out. I'm looking for a camera for the outside of the house.
Shari - I'm sorry but there are many "caregivers" today that come as being "reputable" & some times even family members that everyone says is "wonderful" that you can't just go willy nilly accusing them of something & telling them they're not welcome in your home & yett.....
You can't tell an agency "she's got something I don't like" & dismiss a nanny or babysitter or someone for the elderly just because you have a "feeling" & yet we have a *responsibility* to our children & our elderly to make sure someone is not *HURTING them. No amount of "therapy" is every going to unkill someone... A woman *just caught a "wonderful nurse" that was taking care of her father beating the crap out of him & he "could not speak". We have to watch our own family members & if people don't want to be taped hurting them welll?
