The Worst Gadgets of All Time 9

Philips CD-I
Launched in the early '90s, the Philips CD-I (Compact Disc Interactive) was one of the first game, movie, and music consoles to use the CD-ROM format -- and, at the same time, managed to both suck eggs and have little-to-zero market success. If the story ended here, the CD-I probably would have faded into failed console obscurity, and certainly wouldn't have made this list. After a botched deal with Sony, however, Nintendo made the grave misting of giving Philips the license to use their characters to create some games: What followed were some of the worst Mario and Zelda games of all time, forever dragging these fine characters (and their friends) through the CD-ROM mud. And for that, Philips CD-I, we will never forgive you.
