Call them dorky if you want, but you can keep moving in light or dark without having to fumble with either your vision or your hands (as you try to get them off while carrying a load of books, sacks, purse, camera bag, slipping backpack strap, etc.). Sure, the heavy look of these sunglasses and the music device may have been unpleasant, to say the least, but making them flip-up was brilliant. More manufacturers should disregard the "dork" label and make "smart" flip-ups, particularly clip-on, flip-ups for those who have to wear glasses. Just sayin.'

Myshiloh

Comments on The Worst Gadgets of All Time 3

hmmmI assume you've never played baseball, both the flip-ups and the mp3 player make great additions to an outfielders uniform, but other than that, yeah it's not truly practical, if they could have made it a earphone type replacement for the ipod that would have been better.

Mike

Comments on The Worst Gadgets of All Time 3

I happen to like my Oakley Thump Pros. I use them for athletic things all the time or when doing work outside. That way I dont have too clip anything too me with wires hanging that get tangled. Oakley makes good sunglasses as well. The sound is great and the ear pieces are comfortable. No complaints here. I occasionally wear them when I am going to be logging some highway time on my chopper (Yes I can still hear the traffic and cars around me) But even without music they act as good earplugs for that situation as well. Anyone who rides long distance without a full helmet knows that wind and road noise does a number on your ears. I personally think they are a great gadget.

Richie

Comments on The Worst Gadgets of All Time 3

what a moron. did you do ANY research on the thumps?
or are you re-iterating some clap trap you 'overheard' some drunk spouting at a bar?
I have a 1 Gig unit that I use while racing and have worn Thumps
( until they get swiped) FOR THE PAST TWO YEARS. fifty songs?
what are you recording Beethoven symphonies?
Quality is just fine, comfortable as well.
*HINT
engage brain more often....before letting the ink flo..

eddy
