That, with all kinds of software preloaded, and most importantly V I S T A, made my PC the envy of all my friends.

That's were the excitement stopped. Most of my XP compatible hardware no longer worked, "old" software programs went insane, even though they worked perfectly well before on XP. Even the so called preinstalled programs like office suite, were just a shell for which windows charged huge bucks to upgrade to Vista and after following all instructions, still don't work. There on line help is a joke - I need to learn "indian" (nothing against India), but common we need to be able to communicate (I've given up).

Summary: Please, all thinking going Vista and PC - don't. I'll throw my whole system out (more than $3000) and buy an Apple, just cant handle the unexpected, unannounced reboots and crashes anymore (first 2 months at least 1 to 2 per day, and not at my chosing). My "older" software still doesn't work. Anyone else interested in a class action suit against windows Vista - the nightmare program of the century! What a nerve, if our software had ever performed that way, we would have been fired immediately. Bill gates keeps on raking in the bucks, yet his product sucks. And for our government, you broke up AT&T, a perfectly honest company. Windows is much much bigger, and should be in antitrust court with a breakup into reasonably small junks by product line.

Viktor

Comments on

I'd just like to say that I've had a MacBook Pro for over a year, and my battery still lasts me a good 5 or 6 hours. The same can be said for everyone I know who has a MacBook Pro or a MacBook. And in all of my research on batteries, I found that Apples outlast PCs by 2 or 3 hours 9 out of 10 times.

Jane

Comments on

Obviously the author of this article has never actually used a Mac.

To say that "most other MacBooks and MacBook Pro models get about two to three hours tops" is absolute garbage. 4-6 hours is much more realistic.

And how's this for logic - the ultraportable MacBook Air gets 5 hours of battery life, while "SOME" ultraportable PC laptops get "around" 6 hours...yet PCs are a "clear winner". Shoddy, shoddy reporting.

Let's compare non-ultraportables then. MacBooks and MacBook Pros will get 4-6 hours of battery life. "Similar" (I use that term very loosely) PC laptops (i.e. non-ultraportables) will typically last from 1.5 to 3 hours.

I think this page in particular is incredibly misleading and needs to be amended immediately. What nonsensical reporting.

Ballmer

Comments on

I have a macbook, a macbook pro, and two dell inspiron laptops, and i have to say that on average the Dell goes a lot longer on a charge than either of my macs, and i just replaced both of the batteries for the macs too.

You're just bitter because you've become too emotionally invested in a product/brand. This is for a few simple reasons. First and foremost: maintenance. the cost of antivirus software and technical support is outrageous! macs freeze incredibly rarely, and not a single byte of antivirus software is needed if you're smart. Another thing, people harp on and on about how pcs are more expandable and upgradeable, but that's because they NEED to be. Macs can last for a decade at most. and people yell from the mountaintops about macs' "planned obsolescence". Yeah right. Tell that to my granddad who uses an 8 year old iMac for movie editing. When's the last time you saw an 8 year old PC do anything but crash?

Dan

Comments on

How ridiculous! Everything this reviewer said was questionable or wrong. I'll keep this short - I had been a long time PC owner and long time Mac hater. I'm a software engineer and was forced to use a Mac for work - suffice it to say - I don't buy Windows based PCs anymore and absolutely love my Macbook Pro!

Aaron
