'Super Mario Bros.' (1993)
This compost heap of a movie concerns Mario Mario and Luigi Mario, two Italian American brothers living in Brooklyn. They're apparently being driven out of business by, like, Big Business, and must fight against the Man to stay afloat. Along the way, Luigi falls in love with an orphaned college student named Daisy, which leads to an incomprehensible adventure wherein Mario and Luigi must prevent a flood, explore caves, and discover an interdimensional portal. They eventually find themselves in a parallel world where a human-like race evolved from Tyrannosauridae (decended from a T. Rex population that escaped through the portal). Um, yeah. The directors of 'Super Mario Bros.' were also the creators of 'Max Headroom' and, quite frankly, not much else. Oddly enough, this one stars Bob Hoskins, John Leguizamo, Dennis Hopper, and Samantha Mathis. It's almost so bad it's good...almost.

I liked it. Movies should be simple entertainment not some fantastic redeeming narrative.

I think somebody should do a review on this person's grammar and typing.

I agree...I really love this movie. So what if it isn't a cookie cutter game-movie. They would have called it bad if they did have Mario hopping around through a mushroom forest collecting coins anyway- at least this one had an intelligible plot and a rather cool dystopian society.

Whoever writes this column is a flippin moron. Obviously not a gamer, and obviously brain dead. This movie was hilarious and just all around fun to watch. John leguizamo dancing with goombas? How can you pass that up?! Writer = Jackass.

I think the writer is torn between liking it; and WANTING to hate it. He just hasn't admitted it, completely.
Love this movie! haha.

I agree with the comments. This movie doesn't belong here on the list. It was not the greatest movie ever but it sure was fun to watch. I was entertained and actually was wishing for a sequel.
