Worst Game-to-Movie Translations 2

'Resident Evil' (2002)
Milla Jovovich and Michelle Rodriguez kicking zombie buttocks? Even if 'Resident Evil' is the most story- and writing-idiotic game in history (remember, Jill, the master of unlocking?), it somehow has a touch of intrigue. But it's a movie direly in need of style, with boring shot compositions and no real sense of drama, lacking any real cinematic punch. And unfortunately, it isn't left with much else: The entire movie just feels like desperate attempts to shock the audience, from its pop-up monsters to its surprise cuts. And while these sorts of techniques are still somewhat effective in the context of a game (to some degree), on the big screen they just feel hackneyed. And amazingly, the two (count 'em: two!) sequels didn't fare any better.

Frankly I liked the movies. They weren't AMAZING, but there are very few movies I would rank at AMAZING *cough* Schindler's List *cough* But honestly. If you play the games and watch the movies, you have to think of them as two separate works in order to fully enjoy them, just as you would from a book to movie film. Next to the original form the movie never holds a candle, but separately the movies is usually okay..
