Hitmen Posting Their Services on Craigslist
Craigslist is probably the best resource for finding local people who do things that you need taken care of, whether they be mowing lawns, hauling away old appliances, or watching your kids (if you're brave). According to a report in London's Telegraph, the latest types of ads to show up on the site are giving a whole new angle "taking care of" things, with Mexican hitmen advertising their services on the site. The purported professional killers are offering their services for as little as $6,000, and are pledging traditional service agreements like "job guaranteed in 10 days or less" and "I am 100 per cent professional and don't charge in advance." With offers like that, you seemingly can't go wrong -- except that you're committing a horrible deed and setting yourself up for a potentially long time in jail.
Given this is Mexico, though, you may not have to worry about that last issue. The Mexican police system is overwhelmed with drug-related crimes and has little time to investigate the estimated 1,000 - 1,700 murders that will occur in Mexico this year. We're guessing that's a market Craig Newmark didn't have in mind when he founded the site. [Source: The Telegraph]

It's highly likely these hitman ads are actually posted by law enforcement, or at least a portion of them are. Yeah, it's entrapment, but that doesn't stop them.

craig lives in SF, i'm sure this is exactly what he had in mind.
the same way the youtube guys keep terrorist's videos of attacks and murders on their site, but remove videos of anyone who has any kind of right leaning politics.

If you negotiate the deal properly you can probably get your lawn cut and your shrubs trimmed too.

Who cares about the hitmen in Mexico? I'm in the US, and what I hate about Craigslist is all the WHORES that post their prostitution services there under the "erotic" category. Why is there even an erotic category on the site to begin with?? I couldn't believe how many nude photos of not-so-hot women are on there accompanying their ads for escort services, prostitution and specific sexual favors depending on the buyers' preference. It's distasteful and degrading and I take offense that something like that is on such a wonderful website where my family goes often to find good local deals on furniture and building materials. A woman was recently arrested for advertising her "services" there, so why are there still so many that ARE NOT getting punished? Prostitution is ILLEGAL where I live, so where are the investigators on this issue??

Craig's List needs to stop the porn and 'meet me' ads as well. It is trashy and people who advertise for meetings and casual sex belong on a porn site, not Craigs.
