Hitmen Posting Their Services on Craigslist
Craigslist is probably the best resource for finding local people who do things that you need taken care of, whether they be mowing lawns, hauling away old appliances, or watching your kids (if you're brave). According to a report in London's Telegraph, the latest types of ads to show up on the site are giving a whole new angle "taking care of" things, with Mexican hitmen advertising their services on the site. The purported professional killers are offering their services for as little as $6,000, and are pledging traditional service agreements like "job guaranteed in 10 days or less" and "I am 100 per cent professional and don't charge in advance." With offers like that, you seemingly can't go wrong -- except that you're committing a horrible deed and setting yourself up for a potentially long time in jail.
Given this is Mexico, though, you may not have to worry about that last issue. The Mexican police system is overwhelmed with drug-related crimes and has little time to investigate the estimated 1,000 - 1,700 murders that will occur in Mexico this year. We're guessing that's a market Craig Newmark didn't have in mind when he founded the site. [Source: The Telegraph]

In this economy who can afford a hitman?
unitedmyazJul 16th 2008 9:21AM
Jeff, Mexicans can afford them now that they have american factories moving there by the dozen. if they dont work there they work here with cheap housing and no taxes...

the amount of money I have spent on lawers and other expences, the trip to mexico and the fee he would charge, would have been a bargin divorce!

There are LOTS of ads CL should pull - but you can't get anyone there to do it, even if it's illegal, spam, or whatever. They're rude as hell when you try to deal with them.

I advertised two cars for sale on craigslist and never got one call.
ColeyJul 16th 2008 1:13PM
I am with you! I did the same thing. Listed cars for sale and all I got was solicitation from companies promising to sell the car for a fee of course! Wish craigslist would advertise more than just word of mouth for those of us in the computer age rather than scanning the ads in the paper.

I like Craigslist. I do better selling there than I do on ebay since ebay changed feedback rules.
ebayerJul 16th 2008 11:18AM
well, if you were any good you wouldn't have to worry about the change in the feedback on ebay! it stops sellers from posting revenge against honest buyers......ha ha ha
MEJul 16th 2008 12:46PM
And what about the loser buyers who try to scam you or even barter after the fact? Oh and lets not forget the deadbeat bidders or the ones who want to haggle over shipping when it was clearly posted in the ad. So yes the new feedback rules suck bigtime when it is one sided.

Hi Ed,
I am curious to know what type of items you are having success with on craigslist? Reason I ask is that I have high valued collectibles and can't get them sold on ebay...everyone wants things for nothing...and in the end I pay! Can you give me any suggestions? Thanks Ed.

Craigslist is a terrible place to find a hitman. The people who post there are all so unreliable. I had four interviews lined up and three never showed or even called. Totally unprofessional. I gave the job to the fourth guy and he was sloppy and careless. I could have done a better job myself!
mdlfngrJul 16th 2008 9:36AM
i'm a do-it-yourselfer myself :)
they pulled my ad for a removable cast for sale because i mentioned that you can go to the front of the line at amusement parks, haha!

You do realize Little Nan, that when you say, "this has got to be....., rather than "that has got to be....... you are referring to your own comment being small minded. Kind of ironic don't ya think.
