The 10 Most Stubborn People in Tech 3

Drew Curtis

Despite having a euphemism for fornicating as its name, Fark.com garnered success that most Web sites can only dream about. Launched in 1997, Drew Curtis' brainchild is a news aggregator that offers links with witty descriptions that are submitted and commented on by users. The look and functionality of the site have largely stayed the same, keeping with the idea that people want humor, fast. Money hasn't been much of a factor for Curtis: He avoids in your face ads, including a lucrative deal he said would make Fark "suck," and, as of 2007, only pays himself $60,000 a year despite the site's millions in profits. Fark now gets hundreds of millions of page views a year and, like a true site of the people, offers forums for users and links to porn in its Foobies section.
