<generator>Blogsmith http://www.blogsmith.com/</generator><item><title><![CDATA[Comments on Offshore Wind Power Park to Energize Delaware Homes]]></title><link>http://www.switched.com/2008/06/29/offshore-wind-power-park-to-energize-delaware-homes/</link><guid isPermaLink="true">http://www.switched.com/2008/06/29/offshore-wind-power-park-to-energize-delaware-homes/</guid><description><![CDATA[A GOOD IDEA!<br><br><br>The wind farm will generate electricity without contributing to global warming, plus the wind used to generate the electricity is FREE - unlike coal or oil.<br><br>We have wind-powered "farms" here in CO and WYO and they work!<br><br>Granted, there is some loss of wildlife (mainly birds) and habitat - but then oil and coal development also causes MORE loss of wildlife and habitat toocomparatively speaking.<br><br>PLUS, the wind farms don't contribute to global warming - they don't emit CO2 or other gases like burning oil and coal does.]]></description><dc:creator><![CDATA[rick]]></dc:creator><pubDate>Jun 30th 2008 3:53AM</pubDate></item><item><title><![CDATA[Comments on Offshore Wind Power Park to Energize Delaware Homes]]></title><link>http://www.switched.com/2008/06/29/offshore-wind-power-park-to-energize-delaware-homes/</link><guid isPermaLink="true">http://www.switched.com/2008/06/29/offshore-wind-power-park-to-energize-delaware-homes/</guid><description><![CDATA["Wind farms" do little or nothing to reduce CO2 emissions because they require back-up generation from fossil-fuel plants to balance the load on the grid, which must exactly equal demand at all times  There is no storage of electricity on the grid, and since wind generation is intermittent and unpredictable, dirty coal plants must remain fired up and online to cover periods of no or low wind.  The more wind energy we have, the more conventional plants we will need to back it up.   <br><br>They are nothing but tax shelters for wealthy investors, and wouldn't exist but for the federal tax subsidy of $23.37 per mWh we taxpayers are required to contribute.  Like ethanol, just another "alternative energy" boondoggle.   ]]></description><dc:creator><![CDATA[Vincent  Collins]]></dc:creator><pubDate>Jun 30th 2008 8:54AM</pubDate></item></channel></rss>
