Taser Parties Now Hotter Than Mary Kay or Tupperware Parties

They're just like any other shopping-focused get-together, except in this case, instead of kitchen gadgets and overpriced makeup, party guests examine non-lethal self-defense weaponry. They're invited to check out a selection of tasers (including a pink model), pick out a model that fits in their purses the best, and, if we're interpreting the video at the Read link below correctly, even taser husbands to get a feel for how the thing operates.
Now that sounds like much more of a party than exchanging muffin recipes and buying expensive whisks. [Source: CNN]

You need a Concealed Weapons Permit to carry these! Hope they are making everyone aware of this as they sell them!

I'll be happy to kick him in his sweets, then taser his rear, and run over him with my car. Does that satisfy you?

NEON: I USED MACE SUCCESSFULLY AND WAS ABLE TO GET AWAY FROM A STRANGE MAN THAT ATTACKED ME. ALL THESE MEN COMPLAINING ABOUT THE COUNTRY HITTING A NEW LOW, PUTTING DOWN THE IDEA OF TASERS AS WOMEN'S SELF DEFENSE, IT MUST BE NICE TO BE A MAN. TO BE ABLE TO WALK TO YOUR CAR AT NIGHT AND NOT WORRY. (AT LEAST NOT WORRY THE WAY WOMEN DO) IT MUST BE NICE TO GO OUT AT NIGHT ALONE. WOMEN BASICALLY AREN'T ALLOWED OUT AT NIGHT ALONE, MEN OWN THE NIGHT. THOSE CONCERNED FOR THE SAD STATE OF AFFAIRS, JOIN TOWN WATCH, INSTEAD OF COMPLAINING ABOUT WOMEN TRYING TO PROTECT THEMSELVES.

Terri, I agree completely. Men have some room to complain. Most of the time, men are perpetrators of violent crimes such as sexual assault and they're not preying on other strong men; they're looking for targets they can take down with little effort--targets such as underprepared women who aren't street smart. If I were a man who was 6'2", weighed 200+ pounds and worked in the gym, I'd probably feel pretty comfortable that no one was about to assault me. I'm not built that way, though. Neither is my 54 year-old neighbor. She's 5 feet tall and weighs 80 pounds. I imagine someone would be more likely to attack her than Bill T. who's going to kick an assailant where it hurts. If someone like my neighbor had to go up against someone like the hypothetical man I described, the fight would not be 'fair' and certainly would favor the man unless my neighbor had some kind of advantage such as a hand gun or taser. As it is, she's sassy and likely would shoot an assailant, but without some means of defense, she'd be at an assailant's mercy. Until men stop attacking women (and other women stop attacking women, which sometimes happens), I suggest they stop complaining that women want to defend themselves.

TASERS SHOULD BE ILLEGAL.IF THEY ARE NOT ANYONE EVER TASERS ME, THEY WILL FIND THAT CHARGES WILL BE PRESSED REAL QUICK ON THEM. PEOPLE THINK THERE A BIG MAN WITH A TASER. REALLY THEY ARE COWARDS,
ScaredJun 20th 2008 11:57PM
I watch "Cops" a lot on TV and if that in any way represents the way tasers are used by them, I think it is too frequently. It's like the citizen can't even ask a question or they will be tased. It makes you wonder what goes on when no one is looking like in jail. I also notice how they often say the person is resisting arrest and then tase them. It doesn't appear that way to me but that is what goes on the record. I think the taser is better than the gun but only in extreme cases. I don't think it should be used for situations which could be man handled. Whatever happened to good ole' police work? Also, for the average citizen who is thinking of using this weapon, you better make sure you are on the right side of the law. It's not a toy. Suppose you hit the person in the eye or something? I would think classes should at least be sold with the taser and you should HAVE to attend them and it should be registered just like a gun. This way, if someone were to be abducted or robbed, there would at least be some way to trace the weapon possibly.

We all have the right to defend ourselves. period. There should not be any question about it. Our laws are too delicate and intricate for the situation we are faced with now. They were devised when our society was the most stable and prosperous on the planet. The explosion of population creates just by virtue of random numbers, more criminals as a percentage of the population. We may well become a society where everyone is armed and dangerous. Maybe that scares vicious psychos and maybe that will be what works.

I resent the "overpriced makeup" characterization regarding Mary Kay. I've been using it for 20 years, and one of the reasons I do is because it is high quality for LESS than the department store brands. PS - I enjoy the parties, too, especially Pampered Chef.
DoeJun 21st 2008 1:01AM
This is very Odd! People can read, so let them make their own decisions about Tasers , and the use thereof. No Parties! Doe

As high as gas is now, if I catch some SOB under my truck drilling into my gas tank or trying to siphon gas out of my truck, he'll definitely be sorry he even thought of stealing from me. He better try one of those left wing liberal pantywaists to steal from. None of them have guns anyway.

The right to keep and bear arms is so important for exactly the same reason that most 6'2" 200+ lb. guys don't generally worry about physical attack. If everyone is able to defend themselves with the maximum amount of force, then cowards who prey on weak people won't know WHO to prey on. I've been a prison officer for 26 years, and believe me, junkie, rapist, gang member "wannabe tough guy", organized crime, none of them will knowingly attempt an attack on someone who MAY meet their force with equal or greater force. However, a pencil neck, 5'2" 100lb. meth-head with a .22 caliber derringer and one round will attack the 6"2" guy because he can be pretty positive that mr. muscle can't beat a bullet. All you posters who say such inane things as "strengthen laws", and " give police tools to prevent crime", need to wake up and get into the real world. If you want to try and taser me, or pepper spray me, or even hold me up. Be prepared for your fate if you aren't more prepared to victimize me than I am to defend myself and my own from you.

The big people are there to help the little people from the medium size people. Well in God basic law of decencyt it should be this way but with drugs and the desire for money even some of the big people have gone bad. I am not afraid. I have traveled the USA many times as a single woman. I have had men try to drug me and others try to take over my RV and me however, i realized i had put myself in bad situations. I have been blessed though as i have always gotten out alive and unscathed. I am not saying i have the best karma as when i do something bad i immediately get punished 10 times for doing something bad. I do hope others see this trend in their own life. Maybe we can teach people that doing wrong is going to bring you 10 times the grief than the supposed benefit.
I guess what i am saying is instead of teaching people to protect themselves we should be teaching people about Karma Or God or whatever you want to call it because it is true and can be shown to be true.
Have you ever had that little voice in your head that tells you not to do something then you do it anyway and you end up saying to yourself, why didn't i listen to that voice?? Even the most negative person can be taught this principle and see that it is true. This simple fact of life could help make this world a much better place for everyone. People would know that they do not benefit from doing wrong and that they actually pay 10 times more in negative consequences than they think they get in positive ones. Please try to educate others on this simple fact of life.
LISTEN TO THE SPIRITS ABOVE WHO ARE TRYING TO GUIDE YOUR LIFE AND PROTECT YOU AND GUIDE YOU TO HAPPINESS FOR THEY ONCE WERE HERE AND THEY DO KNOW BETTER THAN WE DO WHEN WE ACT ON IMMEDIATE GRATIFICATION.
So even the person who gets attacked could improve their safety by learning to listen and allow themselves to be redirected to safety by understanding this principle of life and death.
