if you purchase a new iphone (not the 3G version) prior to july 11 would att still offer the $20 data plan that includes the 200 text messages?

You probably could, assuming you could find one. The Apple store online and the Apple store near me have been out of iPhones for probably over a month. A few weeks ago there was a rumor that some AT&T stores still had some left but I'd guess the market is really dry by now.

Why is there not voice commands on the iphone. This makes hands free calling impossible

At the end of Steve Jobs presentation on the new iPhone he put up a list of their "partners". I noticed that my carrier, T-Mobile was on the list, so I called my local T-Mobile shop. They told me that the new iPhone would be unlocked and I could buy it and they could swap out my SIM cards to use it. Your comments above indicate this not to be true. What's your info source?
