For those out there with a sizable media collection at home on a desktop PC, being away from one's music and movies can be the most frustrating thing about working from a laptop. If your desktop PC at home runs Windows, and chances are it does, then you can load a program called Orb on it. As long as that PC is on and connected to the Internet, it'll let you access all of its media and files via a secure Web page. Only the PC at home needs to be a Windows machine. You can access your video, music, and even spread sheets -- if you really want -- from any device with an Internet connection whether it runs Mac OS X, Linux, or even Windows Mobile (as on a smart phone).

If your PC is also a home theater PC and has a TV tuner card, it will also stream live television to any device in your wireless gadget arsenal.
