Traditionalists might balk, but the holiday shopping season is already underway. Skeptical? Head to your local department store and you'll be inundated by Christmas trees and ornaments. Bargain hunters, though, know that the real deals are more than a month away.
Black Friday, traditionally, is when retailers truly slash prices. Early birds can save hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars off of their holiday bills. Switched.com checked with a few elves, who gave a sneak peek at what you can expect deal-wise this year.
Blu-ray Players and Movies: Blu-ray is shaping up to be the biggest door buster of this year's Black Friday. de Grandpre expects at least one retailer will offer a Blu-ray player for just $49. Look for bargains on Blu-ray films as well, with last year's hit titles (such as "Iron Man") to fall as low as $5.
Laptops: With the proliferation of Netbooks this year, it's never been easier to find affordable portable computing, but Dan de Grandpre, CEO of DealNews.com says it will get even cheaper on Black Friday. Look for well-equipped Netbooks to sell for $199 – and basic 15" laptops to go for as little as $249.
HDTVs (Pretty big): The holidays are typically the best time to buy a new TV – and Black Friday is the time to do it. If you're looking for a normal sized set, you're in luck. Piper Jaffrey analyst Mitch Kaiser says he expects to see 32-inch LCD sets for as low as $299. GottaDeal.com is estimating 37-inch plasma and LCD sets will fall to $399 or less.
HDTVs (Really big): Need something bigger? How about a 46-47 inch LCD set for $599 – a 25 percent savings? Or a 52-inch LCD for $999? Dealnews says you can expect both. Plasma deals will be a little harder to come by, but a 50-inch set should run roughly $899.
HD Camcorders: You've wanted to shoot your child's school play in HD for a while, but haven't been able to spring for the pricey camcorder. This might be the year. Low-end, flash-based 720p models could drop as low as $60 (though you won't be able to zoom with those). Expect a high quality 1080p HD camcorder for $349.
GPS: While navigation systems have dramatically expanded their reach this year – even making it onto the iPhone – there's still a market for car-based systems. Dealnews predicts you'll be able to find a no-name entry-level system for $49, while a Garmin or Tom-Tom brand will be as low as $69.
Digital Picture Frames: Showcasing your digital pictures consistently gets cheaper. This year, skip the 7-inch screens and focus on the 8- or 9-inch ones, which should be available on Black Friday for as little as $30.
Monitors: Computer monitors might not be the sexiest of gifts, but they're usually welcomed with open arms – and they'll be cheap this year. Name brand 22-inch LCD models may go for as low as $99, while 24-inch models will drop below $150.
Memory: Don't know anyone who needs a monitor? External hard drives are always popular, since they're an easy way to back-up data. Dealnews expects a 1TB drive to fall as low as $49 this year. Gottadeal is looking for 8GB flash drives to hit $15.

We have received many requests for donations to aid our Iraq vets who have been severely injured. In checking the status of these agencies on-line, we learned that only one percent of a donation goes to the vets, the rest goes for "fund raising" expenses. We will stick with the known agencies - of course we want to help, but not to fund a program which costs 99% to run!!

ANYONE WHO SENDS MONEY TO ANY COUNTRY IS ONE WHOSE HEAD IS WHERE THE SUN DOES NOT SHINE. CHINA LITERALLY "OWNS" THE UNITED STATES, HAVING LENT US TRILLIONS! I SAY LET THOSE TOTALITARIAN MURDEROUS, HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATING B_ _T _ R_ S TAKE CARE OF THEIR OWN PEOPLE. MY ATTITUDE IS "CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME". I GIVE DIRECTLY TO PEOPLE IN MY TOWN, AND I KNOW EVERY DOLLAR IS AT 100%.

i totally agree and then they torture people for not believing the way their "suppose" to believe. They have torture, brainwashing units, and tons of stuff just to change their beliefs. we have too much going on in our own country, in our own state, county and city in which we live. lets help the ones around us first. why is it everyone is willing to help all those other countries and those in charge pushing for people to help other countries when we have so much suffering in our own community. HELP OUR OWN!!!

Well no problem here. I feel sorry for the victims in China but I'm certainly not sending any money over there even if it's legitimate. We have enough people going without in MY country and I help mine first.
China has enough of our American money with all the trading that goes on.
BUY AMERICAN MADE!!! START A NEW OLD TREND!!

My heartfelt sympathy goes to the familes in China.
If I could afford to donate to any one, it would be here in the United States. Our country has had it's share of disasters and now an economical disaster. We need to keep America united right now, and help within our borders. China wouldn't be my choice if I were to donate outside of the good old USA!

And another "SCAM."
Subject: Important Notice: your AOL Account
From: TOSViolation@aol.com
"Problem processing your billing information. Please review our billing requirements at KW: Billing. Please understand that without promptly updating your billing information, your America Online Internet service may be discontinued." You would think that this would go to your Master Screen Name Acct., not only one of your other various screen names. And it goes on and on with a link to click: whatever; Please DON'T CLICK THAT LINK !!!!!! This is a fraud says AOL Billing Dept. this is why I always CALL AOL instead of giving the info requested online in the letter. Who knows where it's actually going to, surely NOT AOL.
Signed:
"Sincerely,
The AOL Billing Services Team"
Sure looks real enough but as I said previously: "this is a scam!!!"

China has the one child only law, therefor this is the price you pay when you can't carry on the family legecy. Disasters will happen and you need to be prepared. Trust me they have enough money and don't need ours. HOME COMES FIRST!. Their Government eats, sleep, wear, drive, and travel first rate. Even their children are educated first rate......... look around in our Universities, High paying jobs that we need, Research centers, even businesses. They are not hurting. Only my prayers go out to them, and that is free.

Robert Umberhaur is right.....China "owns" the U.S. Chinese banks have always been one of the richest in the world. Not only do they loan the US, "trillions", they also OWN THE TITLES to "gazillions" of properties purchased by Chinese immigrants with loans received by Chinese banks, this has been done by truck loads since the huge influx of Chinese immigrations in the 1970s who at first purchased homes in CASH - all from banks like the Bank of Hong Kong, etc. There is so much property owned by China in the U.S. that the truth will never be fully known -and- this in addition to the billions that the U.S. borrowed from China. Yep, the Chinese rich are perfectly able to fully help the earthquake victims, and they do NOT need your poor dollars, at all!

What are the "known" agencies Jane.......
Red Cross and that other monster has, I understand, millions in the bank, drawing massive interest. That money was given to them to help people. Their balance should be closer to zero
I pick the smaller groups that work one on one, money in and money out, like focusas.com and many others...

It is not the chinese citizens' fault that they live in a
screwed-up society. According to the NSCB, more than 80 million
chinese citizens live under the poverty line. This means that they
can't afford to buy even a plane ticket, much less an American house.

I can't afford to buy a plane ticket or a house. Why should I care that the Chinese can't?

Most of us AMERICANS need to keep what we HAVE!
With insane ga$ prices, food co$ts & trying to keep our homes, why the **** should we give what we earn to anyone else? If I had a ton of $$$, I would donate more to the Animals. There are way too many scam spammers out there & it's really a shame. Heartless creeps!
