Bad BlackBerry Manners On the Rise, Survey Says

The Bad Manners Epidemic Among Business ProfessionalsThese days, the sight of a young urban professional hunched over his BlackBerry or other mobile computing device while commuting on the train or bus is a common sight. So, too, unfortunately, is the sight of people answering e-mails in the middle of a romantic dinner, or engaging in calls with colleagues while in the restroom. It's an epidemic, a point proven by a new survey from Yahoo! HotJobs that indicates that a full 18-percent of responders were reprimanded by others for their poor mobile manners.

If one out of five people have been admonished for some transgression, then you know considerably more have irritated others without receiving a comment. But if you're a loud talker in public places, or even a quiet talker in a bathroom stall, then you need to realize that you're part of the problem.

Or, if someone you know has bad manners, for the benefit of all, can you please say something. Be polite, though. A simple "Would you mind not speaking so loudly when you're on the phone?" can save a lot of headaches for others. Chances are the person causing the irritation doesn't even know he or she is being annoying. [Source: AP/Post-Bulletin]
