They are so simple to use and take suprisingly wonderful pictures. I suggest them to people who either are new to the digital photo world or who just want something simple. And don't let the salesman fool you. Yes more pixels are better, but if you aren't going to be blowing up the pic past an 8X10 then six megs is more than sufficent.Hope this helps. I have been working with one of the programs you mentioned and the complication of that program is vast. They have people making livings helping others through the tutorials! ... I think it was misleading as these are mostly tips to correct a potential snapshot instead of how to take the preventive measures so you don't have to "fix" the photo...
I have one other suggestion. If the colour is bunk, then turn it B&W.
