It is obvious that the writer of this article is NOT a horse person nor a horse rider and maybe never even stood close to a horse.
Riding horses is more challenging than you think. Horses react to fear, insecurity and imbalance as they are fight or flight animals.
The riding simulator helps in many ways.
It helps for people who have suffered a dangerous fall to get their confidence back (having their commands down) and also for someone who has never been in a saddle, learning to perfect the balance and commands before riding on a real horse. It is also used for disabled children to increase muscle tone.
I believe the main benefits are: You can learn to ride without the horse reacting to YOU and as such the safety component is important here.
I would not to give up a horse for a simulator BUT it is very beneficial in many ways!
