The Web's Nine Most Obnoxious People

The mere mention of politics can get anybody riled up, so it's no surprise that Matt Drudge attracts a lot of vitriol on the web. A lot of people have criticized his sensational headlines and photos, with TIME's Joe Klein labeling him a "disgrace." He's received flak for his coverage of global warming and defending Rep. Mark Foley's indiscretions with congressional pages, who he referred to as "beasts." Recently, many people were furious when he broke the story of Prince Harry's deployment to Afghanistan despite a press agreement to keep it quiet for safety concerns, resulting in Harry's return to England. There was also the controversy after he wrote a headline announcing that an ABC reporter was an "Openly Gay Canadian," which has led to widespread questioning of Drudge's sexuality. With the amount of hatred directed at him, it's no wonder he's so successful.

The only name I recognized was Matt Drudge. I don't have time to waste reading what these nobodies say or think. Rosie O'Donnell? what is that?

Typical half-a** journalism in this story. An Australian paper admitted they broke Harry's secret, and issued a public apology. Drudge's "leak" was already done before it was on his site. Matt doesn't write many news stories-- he just posts links to stories written by others-- that press/people are ignoring. Case in point: Monica Lewinsky was exposed by NBC, but they decided not to run with the story. He found out, and made the connection. The rest is impeachment history. The (lazy) press and liberals hate him because he's a whistle blower-- but his site is more of a portal. Don't kill the messenger.

Though it's always a pleasure when the target of all dart throwing answers his aggressors, I find it funny that either you're Matt himself or one of his very few fans. The fact that Drudge could have been the reason a person was killed by a terrorist (the son of a beloved deceased royal figure), and caused a Multi- Billion Taxpayer Dollar Investigation over a BJ doesn't make him a messenger...it makes him a scumbag.

No attempt at journalism here. Drudge is one of the #1 sources for real journalists. He reports the news, 99% of his page is simply links to news stories already posted on other websites. He is only hated because he holds the politicos to task. There are two sides to global warming, but typically only one side is reported by most of the media. Mark Foley's only "indiscretion" was some e-mail and IM's. Yet the liberals and their buddies in the media became the thought police in a successful attempt to bring down the Republicans. They couldn't win on the issues so they used good old-fashioned rumor and innuendo to get back their majority. After that they have gone on to accomplish jack sh**.
