The Web's Nine Most Obnoxious People

It's not a new thing for writers to criticize sports blogs, as noted with Radar's comments on Tony Kornheiser, but few have seen their comments so publicly debated as award-winning author Buzz Bissinger. Recently, Bissinger appeared on HBO's 'Costas Now' to discuss blogs alongside Deadspin creator Will Leitch. Rather than calmly making his point that blogs are cruel and destroy journalism, Bissinger was aggressive and profane, causing a backlash from both bloggers and mainstream authors. Although he says he regrets his behavior -- most likely because he's lost a lot of fans -- Bissinger hasn't changed his stance towards blogs.

It doesn't matter if he is right or wrong. Everyone has a right to voice their opinion....just like we are right now. If the audience of bloggers on there are complete F**ing idiots, and write pure trash, nobody is forcing us to read it. C'mon, we are smart enough to know when someone is just a ranting asshole ( like, ME for instance). Free speech and free press is dying...lets not allow yet another sector of our rights to disappear....let the bullshit flow, and allow idiots to be idiots.

I am not saying that Buzz Bissinger is not annoying; I have no opinion on that. However, calling him an "award-winning author" is a bit of an understatement, even if technically true. He wrote the book Friday Noght Lights, and the award was a Pulitzer. I once met a man from Odessa, Texas that said he hated Bissinger and that the town did as well because he exagerated the racism in the town. He felt that Buzz used the town's hospitality for a free ride while there then betrayed everyone.
So, annoying, maybe, but he won a Pulitzer for that book! A sports book, no less! That never happens.
