I disagree. The reviewer spoke the truth in that regard...I've been playing the game for the last couple days and can relate to what he is saying. It's not the fact that the main character is an eastern European that makes him more likable, it's just his attitude and the fact that you can tell there is a good guy in there somewhere from listening to his dialogue. He's seems like somebody who is chasing the American dream and gets mixed up in some bad shit rather than the main characters of the previous games who seemed to seek out the bad shit all on their own.
