HomeAgain ID Chip
Like the Zoombak, HomeAgain ID chips are great for finding missing animals, although they work in a totally different way. A veterinarian injects your pet with a tiny microchip, which corresponds to your pet's information that is stored on the HomeAgain database. If the animal is found, vets, animal hospitals, and shelters use a scanner, access the database, and hopefully return your pet.
According to their website, HomeAgain has almost 6 million registered animals and has reunited over 400,000 critters with their owners. Sure, it relies on outside help much more than the Zoombak, but it also offers $3000 of emergency medical treatment should your animal get hurt. With today's insurance prices, that's better coverage than many people get.
