New Set of Tween Girls Brutally Beat Classmate, Post Video Online
There are some disturbing trends making the rounds on the Internet these days. Some are humorous, such as baby names inspired by text messages. Some are frightening, such as online suicide waves in Wales. Alas, a new trend is making the rounds that definitely falls into that second category. The trend consists of young girls filming themselves brutally beating others and then posting the action online. The latest, in Clarksville, Indiana, left a 12-year-old in the hospital.
As you can see in the video, a group of 12-14-year-olds ganged up on the other girl, the daughter of a police officer, and pummeled her with fists and stones. They recorded the fight and posted it up on PhotoBucket.
This disturbing scene is very similar to a beating of a 16-year-old girl in Florida that wound up on YouTube earlier this month. However, unlike that other beating, these younger girls here have not been charged with any crimes and, because of their age and because they were not on school grounds, may not suffer any official punishment at all.
We hope that their parents at least take away their iPods as punishment. [Source: CBS/AP]

Really? Hold the web sites accountable? That's like asking the local newspaper to be responsible for he citizens of the city it delivers the news to... get real. Go after the parents. They obviously are not doing their job!

I think we should all gang up on whoever it was that created the jerks at the division of youth and family services. It's cause of the threat of them that we can't discipline our own children today. In my day fear of my father finding out that I was involved in a group beating one kid, my father would have given me twice the beating and then draged me over to the kids house who was ganged up on and made to apologize. I didn't have to fear going to jail, as much as fearing my father and mother.

Take away there Ipods?........How about throw them in jail and become someones *itch..I blame "The Parents"...Americans have no sense of discipline that's why our economy is going down the drain..We are raising idiots!!

Girls like this pee in their pants when someone their own size catches them alone. That is why they do what they do in gangs.
barbaraApr 22nd 2008 2:13PM
put their wanna be gangster butts in jail, and let's see if they have the same attitude once 'Big Bertha' gets hold of them.
They need to be charged with assult and battery. Kids these days, what's the world coming to?

figures i'd lose my comment , if it makes sense or holds truth then it must go . but think about it , they didn't make this stuff up . they had to have learned it some where . it's like a look in the mirror , something that is so hard to deal with i know . but it has to be done sooner or later . it's not like something that can be held down forever . i suppose i'll refrain from adding comments if it is so offensive . god forbid anyone tell the truth anymore . god forbid anyone does anything with honesty anymore . it's all bullsh*t , then someone will turn around and ask you for trust , or understanding . no , i don't think so .

The only way this type thing will ever be controlled is through "An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth" started at age 2...

MAYBE THESE KIDS SHOULD BE LASHED wITH wHIPS AND HAVE IT POSTED ON THE wEB (YOUTUBE). IF wE COULD ONLY BE A BIT MORE HARSH wHEN IT COMES TO THE DUE PUNISHMENT THEY DESERVE AND NEED. PEOPLE wOULD THINK TwICE BEFORE THEY VICTIMIZE AGAIN.

OMG. You people look like fools arguing like this. There has ALWAYS been violence. Always. There are just more people and greater exposure of what's been occuring since the begining of time. You're just all freaked out b/c it's now girls doing this. Oh NO! Girls acting like boys... well, if you can't beat 'em, Join 'em!
julianApr 21st 2008 11:32PM
took 12 girls to beat one up. that is the sad story. lock them up in jail for life. it should not matter if they are 18 or 14 a crime like this age should not matter. life life life life in jail. then they will see who the hard ass is. NOT THEM.

This is not new! Why is everyone so surprised that tweens commit ugly, violent acts? The only difference is the recording and posting.
Twenty-two years ago my 8 year old son was surrounded by a gang of boys on his school playground and choked unconcious. The punishment? After I went to the principal and demanded action: the primary perpetrators were not allowed to watch a movie in school the next day. This was in an upscale Illinois community rated one of the best places in the US to raise children!
Longer term result? He became a pariah in his class, because he "got some of the popular kids in trouble."
Parental cooperation: zero. "My kids don't do bad things. If they do, they didn't do it!" What you sow, you reap.
We wonder why some of these kids come back years later with guns?

I have worked with pre-teens & teens for years, Much of the anger in these kids is from Rap & heavy-metals music, along with no father in the home.

It's sad that our political differences have polarized us so much that we blame the other party when something terrible happens. This behavior is much deeper than who's president, and will go on until we thoroughly understand it. I wonder where the kids learned this behavior and how they got so angry. We can speculate about TV, movies, video games, broken families, etc.; but it would be best if we talked to kids like these, heard their thoughts and understand their perspective.
Let's not attack each other like these girls are...
JeffApr 21st 2008 11:45PM
charge them as adults, and maybe todays youth will get the message that this behavior will not be tolerated.
BTApr 21st 2008 11:47PM
These girls knew what they were doing...so should be punished. Kids/teenagers have to learn that there are consequences on every thing you do in life. To punsh is the right thing to do. Just let them experience real life.
ShonnaApr 21st 2008 11:48PM
This is exactly the reason I pulled my child out to homeschool her. And I'm considering pulling my other 2 children out at the end of this year because I want them to show respect for other people and the schools don't teach that anymore.
KatApr 21st 2008 11:53PM
The lack of consequences for these girls actions is a direct result of an incredibly liberal jurisprudence system- thanks to overly enthusiastic judges and attorneys, those under a certain age are allowed to act like monsters without fear of disciplinary actions.

UNCLE DICK WOULD HAVE PREVENTED THIS ASSAULT HAD HE BEEN THERE. YOU CAN BELIEVE THAT THOSE PUNKS WOULD HAVE LEARNED A LESSON AND BEGGED FOR MERCY AS THEY CAREENED OFF THE WALLS.

THIS SHOWS THE SUBJECTION TO VIOLENCE IN THE MEDIA FOR MANY CHILDREN TODAY.

Listen this isn't the doing of the government. Lets take a look at how the kids are being brought up. Chances are realy good that either they come from single parent homes or the parents aren't involved with their kids. I have 8 kids and know where they are 99% of the time. I also teach my kids morals and values. Like do unto others as you would have others do unto you.
Those kids should be punished for the beating but if the parents are in neglect of their duties then they should be charged also.
