Teens Almost Die Attempting YouTube Stunt

In a bid for YouTube fame, two teens from Peoria, Arizona tried to get their Mitsubishi Eclipse airborne by flying through an intersection. Needless to say, the pair failed miserably. They did get airborne, but, upon landing, the car's 16 year-old driver lost control and crashed through several trees and rolled over.
The driver is in critical condition, while the 17-year-old passenger was treated and released from the hospital. Worst of all for the two injured teens, their friends didn't record the incident. Still, due to their complete stupidity, they still managed to achieve Internet fame. [Source: KTAR, Via: Fark]

YOU cannot, must not and should never attempt stunts that may be hazardous to your health. So many in our nation believe what they read in tabloids or see either at the movies or on TV is the way life really happens. Only the least intelligent are foolish enough to actually try stunts that are conceived on paper, diagrammed, tested and then once every precaution has been put into place, dry runs are made. Dry run meaning no human body is involved, only the exact weight in a crash dummy. But then perhaps these two fine fellows thoought of themselves as those exact objects, DUMMIES!
May their recovery be swift and their driving licenses suspended until they are able to prove themselves to have gained sanity.

Teenagers should NOT be able to drive! At least not 16 or 17 year olds. 18 should be the legal driving age. Most accidents are by those 16 to 17.
Clearly, young teens are not responsible enough to operate a DEADLY vehicle.

Terrance, why is the worst part of this the fact that this horrible incident wasn't videotaped. Get your priorities straight.

That ' ol saying certainly applies here... '" Stupid IS.. as Stupid DOES"
Wherever U find an IDIOT.. you'll usually find two or more tagging along,
learning to be one....

YOU TUBE SHOULD STOP AIRING STUNTS THEN THE KIDS WOULD STOP TRYING TO GET THEIR VIDEO ON THE INTERNET........
RayApr 21st 2008 12:30PM
If you know anything about the internet, you would know that there are places besides youtube where you can upload videos. A few examples are myspace, a popular site, facebook. So why is it that youtube should be the one shut down because of idiots who don't have any clue what they are doing? I think not. If you have ever been on youtube you would know that there are plenty of other videos that are on youtube which are funny and quite interesting, only stupid people watch the stunts, and then go and try them.

People keep suggesting that 18 year olds are too young to drive, too young to drink, too young to vote, etc, etc, etc. Does this mean we are evolving backwards? 100 years ago it was not unusual for a 14 or 15 year old to be married, working, and quite possibly raising children of their own. Now, I agree 14 is too young for those responsibilities, but we are getting overprotective. Start teaching responsibility sooner- drinking, driving, sex, whatever. The clue is in the biology- when an animal becomes sexually mature, it should be able to handle most things in life.

What kills me is, with the game of YouTube how many people are going to get hurt, seem as if YouTube take no responsibility for what they show - what are u stupid?
DeniseApr 19th 2008 2:01PM
Guess I should have said, does anyone at YouTube take into consideration what is happening in life - are they adding to the stupidity of life? Why are they not responsible for what they are doing? They are showing kids it ok to do stupid things, great job!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is often that we find idiots on the road, making you want to knock them into tomorrow. But unfortuneatly that is one thing we do not have the luxury of doing, rather a peaceful solution is prefefable.

I'm not surprised that this has happend..I've noticed that when it comes to stupidity "not all" but most of that generation are really stupid.. They think they are invinsible and that the world revolves around them and what they do.. I truly believe that if parents don't start parenting, we are in for more and more of this.. Killing themsleves, each other, other people and family.. This generation needs to shape up.. What is going on with our youth?
RayApr 19th 2008 10:46PM
I don't know if it's necessary to say that its "your youths" are the idiots. They can't help the way they've been brought up. I own a '91 Toyota Celica and you don't see me doing stupid things to impress "youtube users." Yea, I cruise on youtube, but youtube is not the only place that these stupid things can be seen. They can be found just as easily on cable TV and watched, but I don't see you blaming Spike TV for the stunts they show on tv.
RayApr 19th 2008 10:41PM
How can you blame youtube for this. Blaming youtube is just as idiotic as the kids doing the stunts themselves. If you watch Spike TV you can see plenty of dangerous and stupid stunts. Blaming youtube is like saying violent video games caused the Columbine and Virginia Tech shootings. It may be the easy way out to blame youtube instead of saying "Some dumb-ass kids did something really stupid stunt causing them to all most die." I play plenty of the violent video games out there, but you don't see me going around shooting people. Your accusation is idiotic and presumptuous.

Raise the legal driving age.
OK, so you drove when you were 11 and think 16 is plenty old enough. By your own admission that was 1942, how fast did the vehicle that you drove go and how many other drivers did you have to maneuver around? With vehicles that can easily be pushed over 100 mph it is necessary to have adult reflexes not the uncoordinated, undeveloped relexes of a child. My dad used to tell stories of being 12 years old and driving his mother someplace but he also recognised that hundreds of cars just in your range of vision is much different than being the only car on a country road in an old truck that tops out at 15 mph.
johnApr 21st 2008 5:29PM
Whoever wrote this is an idiot. they weren't even thinking about getting on youtube when doing this. But of course adults need to feel better about themselves and make themselves feel more superior by talking bad about people younger than them. all adults were just as immature and childish when teenagers.

I say if you are gonna play with fire you will get burned. Maybe they didn't get what they deserve but they are idiots and some well most of them do get what they deserve.
