$399 Windows Eee PC Now Available at Best Buy

Wal-Mart seems to think that consumers don't want to buy cheap computers (earlier this eyar, the retailer pulled the $199 Everex gPC from store shelves and forcing consumers to go dig through its Web site to order one). Fellow big-box retailer Best Buy, however, has a different opinion. The home electronics powerhouse has just made picked up the recently released Windows XP version of the $399 Eee PC, which is now available both via its website and for in-store pickup.
We've reported on the low-cost Eee PC many times before, including word just last week that this XP flavored version was coming. That was good news for many who were looking for a cheap ultra-portable but wanted the familiarity of Windows. When we reviewed the laptop in February we found it to be capable and compact, if not quite a powerhouse. (What do you expect for $400?) The addition of Windows XP to the device should make it an even more appealing -- though slower -- option for many, though the faster version with a larger screen coming later this summer may be an even better choice ...

With all the whining, and complaining about Walmart, you people are hipocrits.
Although your there the next day buying, groceries, clothes, electronics, auto accesories,or whatever you need.
You still whine!
One thing about Walmart; if you buy something and it doesn't fit, or work. They damn sure give your money back! without a hassle.
Now then> go out to your favorite merchandiser Walmart, and spend more money for less, and quit acting like your not an advid walmart shopper!!!!!!!!!P.S. who loves ya baby!

I saw all kinds of $499 laptops (usually after rebate unfortunately) over Christmas. After a lot of looking and waiting for the right sale, I bought a nice 15" Toshiba with 2GB RAM, a 160GB hard drive and Vista Home Premium for $499 after rebate at Office Depot. Admittedly, you have to wait 60-90 days for their rebates, but if you can afford to wait, and make sure you put the rebate check back on your credit card, you come out way ahead...my (son's) laptop is 10 times better than the one you get for $399 at Best Buy.

I just pruchased an HP Pavillion Notebook Model DV9260US with Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T7200 with a 17" screen with 2 GB Ram with 200 GB hard drive, with a HD SuperMulti DVD Drive with a TV Tuner with Windows Vista Ultimate for around $1717.00 after a $900.00 discount.
Where was this $400.00 laptop when I need one!

I GIVE KUDOS TO BEST BUY, SOMEONE HAS TO BUST THE BOOTY ON WALMART. STAND UP AND BE HEARD. WALMART TAKES ADVANTAGE OF ITS CUSTOMERS WITH LITTLE OR NO QUALITY CUSTOMER SERVICE.VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. AND THEY ACT LIKE IF YOU DONT BUY THERE, THEN OH WELL GO SOME WHERE ELSE ATTITUDE.I LIVE IN A RURAL AREA AND I STILL DRIVE 45 MILES TO THE CITY TO GET QUALITY SERVICE. WALMART BEING 8 MILES FROM MY HOME. I MOVED OUT HERE TO HAVE THE MOM AND POP STORES, NOW THEY DO NOT EXIST. CLOSED,DUE TO WALMART BEING BUILT.WAL-MART EMPLOYEES DESERVE SO MUCH MORE.

BAN WALMART !
Next Christmas, instead of doing ANY shopping at Walmart, do this; take a drive to your nearest SMALL TOWN and shop in whatever stores they have, even a lumberyard or hardware store. They always have interesting, useful items anyone can use and maybe not even made in China. Just think of the impact this would have on our smaller communities if even 5% of our population nationwide did this. And the best part is, you'll be avoiding the crowds, getting better parking spots, and probably eating a old style home-made dinner in some little small town cafe. Alot more Christmas spirt doing something like this than fighting for another widget at Walmart. Share this idea with everyone you know. You can make a difference!

WalMart has been going down for awhile. They took the lay-away off and for the thousands of (not so well off financially)people who used that for their kids Christmas, birthdays, or even just to fix up their homes, are having a rough time. I do a lot of my shopping at Kmart now, but they don't have a lot to offer, but they still have lay-away. The customer service, the little things like wiping out the wet carts, the friendly smiles and "hello" are gone. I hear bickering amongst the employees, back stabbing, talking about their private lives out loud. I'm tired of Wal-Mart, if they go down, I hope it's in flames.

If Americans would quit buying crap sold in China-Mart it would certainly help with trade deficit.

I'm really tired of everyone putting down Walmart. Walmart prices force the other stores to offer decent prices. Everyone bitc*es about the cost of things, here's a store that offers decent prices and the same people bitc* about that! There's no making them happy. As for them sueing the needy family, I agree it looked really bad on their part, but they also dropped the lawsuit against the family. I like Walmart and will continue to shop there. I can buy the same exact products at Walmart for HALF the price of what Jewel Food Stores sell it for. Those are the places you need to boycott.
